Yeah, really. Zounds are fucking amazing, just got into the Mob but I'm really digging them. Haven't heard Rubella Ballet (other than in name) but to see them on this bill has to mean they're a big deal themselves. It would be nice to go to an anarcho-punk event that wasn't all grinding vocals and crusty metal riffs (not knocking it though <3 ). Lucky fuckers...

on another note...are alot of shows/venues in the UK 14+? What's that about? :p

The Mob are essential, we are getting ready to cover 1 or 2 of their songs live, Zounds are legendary to say the least, Rubella Ballet are magnificent, Insurrection I don't really know but I am going to find out... I really really hope this gets filmed for the rest of us sorry bastards :ecouteurs:

Very Nice, sounds like it would be a lot of fun. Last I heard the former members of the Mob were travellers hitch hiking all over the country. Love to be in the UK for this one. Also Jack to answer your question they don't have age restrictions on venues in the UK, they ask at the bar for your ID if you want to buy a drink. Makes sense really.

if this was 30 years ago it would have been amazing, not sure a reunion gig will do any of these bands any justice, however i'd be willing to find out if i was in the uk, is 12 pounds expensive for a gig there? (i know it's approx. 24 us dollars)

$19.44 at today's exchange rate, a little steep, but I think you're wrong about it not having potential for being great show Anx.

you need to think of capacity, most small gigs there are about 5 pounds so an event like this that will attract a lot of people requiring a bigger venue.

Insurrection was one of the earliest bands on Peaceville, they are a Doom-esque crust band

oh no, i'm sure it has potential, i just wouldn't go expecting much... that way it will likely exceed expectations. either way, i love old uk anarcho punk, and the odds of those bands ever playing here in the states is probably slim to none, and that makes me sad :(

I just got back from this... What a night! Insurrection, Rubella Ballet, Zounds and The Mob were all on top form! I didn't expect The Mob to be as good as they were, but they sounded like they hadn't stopped playing since the 80's. Mark Mob didn't seem to believe what was going on, at the end of the set (after not saying a single word between songs) the only thing he could say was: "I can never thank you all enough."

Here's hoping they decide to do more gigs in the future!

Thank you so much Warfiend we in Diatribe are huge Mob fans and can only hope some day to be able to play a show together. I bet Mark was floored at the response, was it sold out? How many people would you say attended?

The venue capacity is 400. The tickets sold out in about 2-3 weeks! I think they were probably a few more than that there, due to guest lists and late arrivals etc. It was packed!

The Brixton gig was absolutely RAMMED! Several people passed out or collapsed because of a shortage of oxygen/dehydration. The Mob were fantastic, first time I had seen them in 28 years and they were stunning and played just about all the songs I know by them! I had been wary of punk revival shows and hadn't been to any before, but I couldn't resist The Mob, Rubella Ballet and Zounds on the same bill again after all these years. Mark Mob was a true gent and called an ambulance for my friend (who unfortunately neded it at the time) whil;e his daughter helped with first aid - thanks guys. Rubella Ballet were great, I can't believe so many people don't know them on this board, they were originators in the early UK anarcho scene and always made a point of not being swallowed up by the 'dressed in black' doom merchants. Sid and Zillah gave it their all and it seemed like no time had passed at all. Despite his leukemia, Sid beat the drums like he always did, although it had clearly taken its toll somewhat by the end of the gig. Love Rubella to bits still. Zounds were fine, but because bands were on in two rooms, we had to decide - Zounds or Rubella. A truly inspiring gig and it was marvellous to see old friends like Sid and Zillah again.

The Mob are playing back at the Bristol Fleece in March (I think) with Hagar The Womb supporting.

There are rumors floating of a North American tour...I would be seriously happy if we were to be able to play a show with them if they come...thanks for the update wailinwailer and as for Rubella...well not all of us are naive about them...but a lot of younger forum members have yet to discover or appreciate the great unsung UK anarcho-punk bands...here's to keeping their traditions alive and resonating!
