I's pretty clear that plants have at least a limited awareness of their surroundings. Whether they are actually self-conscious is probably impossible to say for sure. Scientists argue that because they lack a central nervous system and because consciousness is a product of the brain, they can't be conscious and mystics and some philosophers will probably argue that the mind is a product of consciousness.

Of course. it's a scary thought.

This takes veganism to a whole new level. There are a few that claim to be able to live purely off sunshine and oxygen, of course they run off to get a burger when no one is watching.

Haha, technically we only refuse to eat animal products, so I guess it would be more correct to say they're taking religion to a new level(I'm just correcting myself). That is pretty crazy, and not really a sustainable lifestyle(obviously!).

In Mexico there is a group that docent like this and civilization: "Individuals Tending Toward The Wild" or ITS and they have taken it upon themselves to attack the scientists behind it all, using bombs they are trying to kill scientists, and they have taken responsibility with the killing of one scientist so far and i think also an attack on a Mexican power plant i think that killed 20 people...

The mexican press calls them anarchist terrorists but in there communiques they claim no to be anarchists, but i think it was Radical Environmentalist or something, in there last communique they address the anarchist question: "In this point we will try to distinguish between our stance and anarchist stances"
