I’ve lurked a bit, and I’ll likely lurk quite a bit more (I’m shy) but I’ve joined up because this place has provided me with a glut of new music and sometimes I wouldn’t mind chatting about it and attempting to contribute to the conversation. I’m not sure I’ll fit in ‘round here, but here goes: I’m Canadian, but I’ve also lived in Scandinavia and Eastern Europe. I’m a scientist. I’m interested in minimalism and DIY, but I don’t think I’ll ever be one of those 50-things-or-less types. I amuse myself by playing ice hockey and soccer, laughing, knitting, lurking around the public library, and prudently sipping from my collection of whiskey. Though, obviously, not all at once. I’m not a big fan of shouting or intolerance. Or cauliflower, for that matter. I’m simply distraught that I don’t know anyone else in town who goes to punk shows and I’ve had to turn to the internet find others of a similar ilk. Woe is me, etc. Comments? Concerns? Questions?
Can't find anyone to go to shows with in Vancouver? That's whack...any way welcome to APN as an official lurker turned forum member..maybe you'll find some people to go to shows with as their are quite a few members here from Canada....cheers
hi welcome to APN what are some of your favourite whisky's (or area's they come from(I personally love the smokeyness of the scottish Islay whisky's) cheers nutz!
Thanks for the welcome, all. Haha, cauliflower is the one thing that I will rudely pick out of my food. Even in polite company. It’s just a big mass of undifferentiated cells, and that sort of unsettles me. My favourite from Islay is definitely Lagavulin. From the rest of Scotland, I’d pick Springbank, and Green Spot from Ireland. What about you? I’m sure there are lots of punk-show going folks in town – I just don’t seem to know any of them. Also, the last time I went to a show on my own, some guys in the queue gave me a hard time because I didn’t look punk enough for them. I stood up for myself and pointed out the hypocrisy in their attempts to pressure me into conforming to some kind of dress code, but it wasn’t exactly fun and I can’t say that I came away from the experience with new friends.

Yeah, Ardbeg is great - it's a hardcore Islay. My friend introduced me to her bottle of Uigeadail by describing it as "distinctly bacon-y" Any other whiskey drinkers around here? What's your poison?
