Bakersfield ROCKS Against Racism!
Hope you have a good turn out and your event is successful.
Hope so to . Bakersfield is a large redneck conservative town , so we'll see how it goes . But to many of us that will be there have had to fight the rednecks , peckerswoods and boneheads more then once , so all shall be good .
Maybe if you could find a C&W band that actively takes a stand against racism, then all might go well. I'm sort of joking, but I do know a bit about the reputation that Bakersfield has, especially when it comes to it's conservative politics. After all, a majority of it's citizens are "Roughnecks" (People who work in the oil fields) and Buck Owens came from Bakersfield, so right wing white conservatives is part and parcel, but it's been my experience that there are often a large numbers of brave souls who are fed up with situations like this that actively work for change so, hopefully there will be no problems, everybody will rock out, get the message out, have a good time, and maybe get an education.
We have some people/ band members who stand with us who are in a country/rockabilly band and was the very last band to record at Buck Owen's recording studio , and are good friends with Buck Owen's son and that band is The Iron Outlaws .
I'll make sure to check them out.
