I haven't see folks talking about this too much. I was just wondering what your thoughts were on recent events and Detroit as a whole. I lived in the Metro Detroit area my whole life and I have recently started to get myself involved with anarchists in the area. Despite the cities awful state it is still full of brilliant and wonderful people who are working to take the city back and make life livable there.

The collective there is the Trumbullplex. I've learned about them recently but they have been around since 1993. They have been establishing community gardens and have be aligning with groups that want to keep the Great Lakes clean from invasive oil companies. They have been actively been blocking the building of pipelines and shipment of Tar Sands.

I don't know too much about the situation in Detroit either, except that much of Detroit has fallen into a dilapidated state since the automotive plants shut down. Sounds like a great place for squatting.

Could anything good come out of these crises, such as the practice of self-management, autonomy ...

I can see the price for land and other places getting cheaper along with a few other things. It's really going to depend on who's going to come in and take it. I can see some people coming in to take the land so they can put it to good use and share it with the community. Also I don't see long term business profit being made off the land, so I can see it being less likely for someone to come it just to monopolize it but that is still possible.
