What are some good websites for news? Non-corporate shit is hard to find for me.

depends on what you're looking for: specifically anarchist news, general non-corporate coverage of more 'general' events, or news based on specific localities?

Preferably U.S. or World events from Non-Corporate view points.

Anarchist stuff would be good too.

is unfortunately not updated frequently enough, though there are far more frequent updates from the localised indymedia centres, and with twitter and stuff, even live feeds from rallies, etc. Unfortunately, it means you kinda have to know what yr looking for to begin with, plus there doesn't seem to be much communication between the various local indymedias, and they are (suprisingly) as good as the local collective who maintain them. hint hint wink wink nudge nudge, it's open publishing, submit yr own content to yr local indymedia ;)

Unfortunately, due to simple things like, having no money to pay reporters or have foreign bureaus, independent medias are run by people passionate about certain things, it thus follows that they often only have enough time and resources to cover specific topics. This is simultaneously good and bad, it means there are many sites and blogs with near bottomless infos on specific topics whilst there is, imho, no real 'one stop shop' for comprehensive coverage.

infoshop.org and libcom.org are the best two i reckons. The former can tend to be US-centric and sometimes posts stuff perhaps better left not; the latter is UK dominant, and with a strong focus on workplace struggles, moreover the 'news' in the forums is often fantastic (the best thing about libcom is that the news articles actually give context and analysis, and the format is easy to navigate and gives a sense of cohesion). Not saying there's anything wrong with their respective focuses, its just reflective of the people who post there.

http://slackbastard.anarchobase.com/ is also fantastic, although @ndy is slowing down his blogging nowadays.

http://www.zcommunications.org/ is also really good, its kinda the internetz ivory tower for famous lefty crackademics like Chomsky or Pilger. Its fairly entrenched in academia, and more specifically, in the school of International Relations. A school of political science known for the dominance of conservatism ('Realism'), unfortunately this conservatism pervades even the leftist thinkers in this school. So, whilst zmag postures as radical, they are unfortunately thoroughly Liberal. Still a great source but.

Narco News (narconews.com) is a pretty darn good sauce for the US-Mexico borderlands news, specifically the 'war on drugs'.

Upside Down World is a great sauce for all things Latin American. I'll take this oppurtunity to also plug a bi-monthly periodical, The Spectre (see signature), I've been editing. Similar focus, and we're trying to provide translations of news from Latin American not available elsewhere, unfortunately, we still fall back on reprinting upsidedownworld stories sometimes... :ecouteurs:

    325 for all things insurrectionist.

    http://anarchistnews.org/ is ok.

google translate http://enlacezapatista.ezln.org.mx/ for all things Zapatista.

    http://elenemigocomun.net/ for all things APPO/Oaxaca

http://santiaskoanarquista.noblogs.org/ for all things related to the 14 Chilean Anarchists facing terrorism charges in Chile

    http://hidupbiasa.blogspot.com/ for most things Indonesia.

    http://paismapuche.org/ for most things Mapuche.

My blog for most things Kulon Progo

Umm, I think that's enough for now...
