Oooo nice. Reminds me of how many First Nations languages here are in danger of dying out due to very few people being able to speak them.

Yes exactly. Same story in the Amazon and elsewhere. I read a comment from someone in Mexico who is learning to speak the Aztec language Nahuatl saying his grandmother is ashamed to speak her native language! That's so sad. But there is a small resurgence of young people in Mexico wanting to revive their old language. Also there are people dedicated to preserving their dying languages on the internet. And of course, like this band, you can keep them alive through music! At least they won't be forgotten!

I've got 3 songs by Swedish band Asta Kask. I'm generally not a huge fan of 'trallpunk', a sub-genre of punk that began with Asta Kask (trall meaning melody), but a few of their songs I really like.

 

Awww that's a shame. But at least it's being preserved.

Fucking love me some Dead Kennedys blasting in my ears right now. Nazi Punks Fuck Off on repeat, always gets me pumped up. And yeah, I gotta agree, we need more music with a real message, like shit that calls out the bullshit in society. Dead Kennedys, Minor Threat, all that good stuff. Screw mainstream crap, give me some raw, unfiltered punk any day.

 

A friend of mine introduced me to that and definitely agree there.
