DEAD NITTELS - Anti New Wave Liga EP (Austria) (1983)

Named after the murdered SPÖ city councilor Heinz Nittel and based on the Dead Kennedys, the Dead Nittels - with former Pöbel bassist Lörkas in their ranks - replenished the Viennese scene from 1981and formed the basis of the second Punk generation with Kleenex Aktiv (founded by two ex-Dirt Shit-lers) and Schund. Their sound was special: they sounded much harder and more metallic than many of their contemporaries,
in addition, their Viennese song lyrics were terribly vulgar and full of attacks against Austrian societal values. In 1983 they self-released a 4-track EP in an edition of 300 copies, which carried the title "Anti New Wave League - This is Vienna and not London, okay?"

Ultimately, they contributed to the development of the 80s punk scene in Austria like no other band and remained active until the late 1990s.
