Marshall_law you wrote ...my friend lives in a small town in NY, and the cops there stop him every time just because hes Latino.
and i see this like' "for policeman all latino are suspicious (for expl.) : and the same line of thinking is for punks all policeman are bastard,
and i just think that in both way that is wrong that is all i wanted to say.

Another song I remembered - Kill a Metermaid by FYP

I love my father and brother in law, but they are my enemies, and if it came down to it it would be me or them. I wouldn't personally take action against them, but if someone else did i would completely understand it. IT was their choice to be in that position. I used to be more sympathetic to the families of cops, but lately i see it as a choice they made, a choice to alienate others, and if something happens to them, then it's the price of our freedom. (the cops, not their families, i'm not down with the idea that their families need to be victimized for their sins.)

In all fairness, looking poor or non-white IS pretty suspicious. These cops are doing God's good work protecting upper class republican's from us. Not fitting into the whole american-dream stereotype is pretty criminal and we are all guilty. Let's give these poor cops a break by all being white and upper-middle class christians and not the dirty, uncouth born-criminals we so are. God bless America.

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok, that shit is making me sick. You can love your family all you want, but if they're cops ("good" or "bad"), they are still footsoldiers of the state. That makes them the enemy. If and when the shit hits the fan, will they be home making pancakes and spending quality time with the family....or will they be out in riot gear gassing and beating the shit out of people like you? Police are the street level of the military. They exist not to protect you, but to keep you in line. Police=enemy, that's all.

I wish you could like comments, like on facebook. For some reason I had the overwhelming urge to "like" Jacks comment and soon after starting my search for the like button forgot there wasn't one. I need more sleep.

Or maybe I don't wish that, that'd just make everything silly.

Just before the G20, and for about a month after, I kept getting stopped in my way to work (I worked at 7am in the summer, so I'd be walking there at 6:30am) and kept getting stopped by the cops who'd park outside the grocery store I was at for "looking suspicious". Same dickheads every time. After they stopped bugging me, I'd ordered in a copy of Our Enemies in Blue by Kristian Williams (great book, by the way). About a week after getting it, I was walking to work again, with the book in my bag and I got stopped AGAIN, different dickheads this time, and wouldn't believe me that I was going to work. They asked to search my bag, and I realized I had the book in there, so I thought I was fucked. Then the bakery manager, one of the few decent people I work with came by and convinced them that I was in fact going to work.
I've never really had any major problems with the cops in Kitchener/Waterloo, but in the summer, a lot of them got this real beefhead mentality (a bunch of them were in Toronto). Every time there was a protest, mostly for demanding a public inquiry into their conduct in Toronto, they would try and get into people's faces, subtly trying to provoke us.

I do agree with the idea that all cops are guilty by association. One of my friends' dad is a cop, and he's a decent person to be around; refuses to bust people for weed/minor drinking, one of them who actually wants to make a positive impact in society, but at the end of the day, he is a tool of the state.

exactly. doesn't matter if they are a decent person or not, it's the job they do and the impact of their actions on other's lives that matter. humans have such complex social structures that the smallest action can have a big impact. it's our responsilbity to try and lessen that impact, i'd say, and based on what cops do for a living and who they work for, that makes for an irresponsible and damaging course of actions, even if the intent is good.

I'll just throw out my recent favorite.

Oh, I forgot, I have an awesome story involving the cops, border control, and how I'm refugee from Canada. This was the experience which really taught me to hate the police; I hated them before, but this is a whole new level. (it's lengthy, but worth reading)

So This story involves me, My 3 best friends Brandon, Steven, And CJ, and CJ's older brother Laurence. So we decided to go to Youmacon (an Anime Convention), which was at the Ren Centre in Detroit. There is a way to get to the Ren Centre without going through Detriot, and it's to go onto the way to Canada, and take a tunnel going left which goes underneath the river (apparently). So all 5 of us were in Laurence's Van, heading to Youmacon, and the GPS says take a slight left, which he do. We're all preoccupied, Brandon was texting, Me and CJ were talking about anime, Steven fell Asleep, and Laurence was driving. We then realise that something was going on wrong, it was taking a bit longer than we thought to get to Youmacon. We then go forward another half mile or so, and then we start seeing Canadian flags in the tunnel. At the moment, we realised that we were heading to fucking Canada, and we couldn't turn around. So we get to The Canadian Border control, tell the Border Control our situation, and both of the fucking guards started to laugh. "HA! That's what you get when you follow the American Education System, eh? No Child Left Behind eh?" so the laugh for a bit while all of us get pissed off at them, and they said they had to search us. So we park at the Canadian Commons office, where several police were there waiting for us. We step out of the car, and two cops start to search the car, while we get searched by the police. I had a male police officer search me, and it wasn't fun. Essentially he was doing shit too rough and it felt like rape to a point. Before we got searched, they checked our phones, which Laurence had a picture of a Marijuana on it (CJ and Laurence's dad is a Doctor, and is legally allowed to grow pot, so Laurence took a pic of it and sent it too his friends but didn't get rid of the picture). All we see is the police look at the phone and he gets taken off. So after being searched, we're all sitting in the commons office, Laurence comes into the Commons office as white as a ghost. We asked what happened and all he said was "They told me to spread my cheeks and lift my sack". So we're waiting in the Commons office for a fucking hour, when the lady at the counter says "What are you guys here for?" Steven responds with "We're here to get back into America", she responds with "You guys aren't on the list". So after a 5 minute argument, she realised that we were on the list, but on a different page, which they fucking passed us. So we deal with some people from the commons office and tell them our situation. They give us a paper which stated 'ALLOWED TO LEAVE CANADA : REFUGEES FROM CANADA : NOT ALLOWED TO ENTER DETROIT".

So we drive back to America, where we're stopped at the American Commons office, and we're stopped by a cop which goes by Officer Jones (Yes, we know him, and I hope to never see this pigs face again). Laurence explains to the officer what we did, and he mentions that he was strip-searched. Officer Jones then asks "When the strip-searched you, did you get naked?". CJ, which has Aspergers, blurted out "HAHA! WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO KNOW IF HE WAS NAKED?!". Officer Jones face turns and he just fucking explodes on CJ "YOU KNOW WHAT YOU PUNK KID, I'M JUST FOLLOWING ORDERS, I'M NOT ASKING THIS SHIT BECAUSE I THINK IT'S FUNNY, [blah blah blah]". Officer Jones then smiles and tells us that we need to enter the American commons office to prove that we were American (Everything beyond this point was all CJ's fault). We get to the American office, they search us, they toss the energy drink I brought on the ground, which exploded, and so on. We get into the office, and the lady at the counter says we're ready. So we're escorted to some men at the Commons office, which they proceeded to ask us questions about where we were born. They ask us all and we tell them, and then they get to CJ, which he responds with "Um... Uh... I don't know where I was born...", the guy then says "How can you not know your city of birth?!", "I don't know!! I could be French for all I know". Then we all get fucking pissed at CJ, and so the men then search through all the records or some shit like that. We're in the Commons office for an hour, and then they found his record, and we're let free. We then miss Youmacon because this whole scenario took 4 hours!

Godammit I hate the police, and this all actually happened. It's so fucking unreal and hilarious, but this really happened and I hate the police for making a simple 5 second turn around turn into a 4 hours process.

And this is why you don't watch Anime kids...

Kidding, I read comic books same thing really. But that really sucks man, that is such unfortunate luck. I pass through the American/Canadian boarder all of the time and have absolutely no problem, the car I am in rarely gets searched and on a few occasions I didn't even get my passport checked. I've heard quite a few horror stories about people coming from America into Canada and getting into shit, which is stupid because they're basically the same country with a different flag and a few minor alterations in the law. I wish you better luck next time. V_V < 3
