I recently discovered about the spotify flaws and I wanted to do something about it, but I can't buy records etc. I wanted to ask if someone knew another streaming platform that's similar to it. I'm also new here, the site and the community, so maybe someone already talked about it and I didn't find the conversation. Thanks in advance

Hello! As of right now I'm unfortunately not aware of a single streaming service that's also ethical. Will keep an eye on this thread though, if anyone else know of something.

I get around the current situation by only playing local files (most of the bands I like have their discography available to download free of charge on their bandcamp page, and in other cases, like when I can't afford the album because it's a collector's item or something, there's always soulseek). And if you want to get yourself a proper offline playlist consisting of punk (and other anarchist stuff)... you've come to the right place! :)

Hi! We have a streaming channel right here. Not sure if that's what you're looking for. It streams random songs from all the stuff that's been uploaded here over the years. I think the playlist changes every day.

I personally pirate most stuff, except for local artists (I buy those on Bandcamp), but for streaming I have an old computer, installed Jellyfin and Caddy for reverse proxy, then I got a domain, so I can just boot up the Jellyfin app on my phone and stream from my home server! Overall I find it easier than trying to keep music on my phone proper.

That's a nifty idea! I was going to set up a home server with an old Raspberry Pi once, but then I had to keep that updated so I decided to just update my phone regularly (as in running a file sync software once a week) instead. Nowadays I have too much music to fit on my phone so it might be a good idea to revisit this.

I normally don't listen to music on my phone but on the rare occasion when I do, I'll just copy some mp3s on it.

I use Debian as the OS, didn't install a desktop environment so it's all terminal stuff, and if I need to do anything to it I'll just ssh in from my main computer. But with Debian, you don't get a lot in the way of updates anyways, so I rarely bother to do anything. It just chills and serves my music, Minecraft, and three different versions of The Room lol
