    Vägra got me thinking about the old Florida band, it's such a shame they quit. I contacted them a couple of years ago and while they were happy someone still listens they have no plans to make new music.

    Yup! Vägra is a verb, meaning you refuse to do something. The swedish translation of resist is "motstå" (literal translation: stand against - or "againststand" if I were to read the word exactly as it's written), which usually refers to a state of opposition rather than the personal will of someone.

    He resisted = Han gjorde motstånd (literal translation: he made resistance)
    To resist = Att stå emot (literal translation: to stand against)

    He refused = Han vägrade
    To refuse = Att vägra

    Thanks. Yeah that's making sense now. It's similar to the German verbs weigern and verweigern, which also mean refuse.
    Weigern = to refuse
    Verweigern - to refuse (something)
