    The term Various Artists is used in the record industry when numerous singers and musicians collaborate on a song or collection of songs. Most often on Last.fm, compilation album tracks appear under the name of Various Artists erroneously because the individual artist is not listed in the album's ID3 information.

    Sometimes, single releases may be credited to Various Artists when their profits are going to charity and, usually in high-profile cases, are sometimes known by a group name. Examples include Band Aid with their releases of Do They Know It's Christmas? and USA for Africa with We Are The World.

    Various Artists is also an actual performance name for Torsten Pröfrock, who runs the German DIN label. Torsten performs also as Dynamo, Erosion, Resilent, and Traktor besides some others. He's a good friend of Robert Henke and since the Fall of 2004, he is a member of Monolake.

    Various Artists were also a short-lived Bristol punk band formed by brothers Jonjo and Robin Key (originally from Birmingham). Other members were also simultaneously in Art Objects who went on to become The Blue Aeroplanes, the latter the Key brothers also co-wrote some songs and were involved in. When Various Artists imploded, the Key brothers went on to form Either / Or.

    Various Artists also appear on tracks from musical theater soundtracks, due to the nature of having many cast members on one song, as well as an ensemble in some cases.

    Great compilation, thanks! I took the liberty to properly name the files and add correct tags etc (as well as the thread title). I noticed that you have the CD, there's software out there that adds this information automatically when ripping if you don't want to do it manually. :) A few examples would be EAC (Windows), fre:ac (Linux/macOS/Windows), Asunder (Linux), RubyRipper (Linux/macOS) and dBpoweramp (Windows).

    Properly named and tagged download (track 15 in your rip seems to be broken, so I added a working one)

    I will definitely look into pulling that soft & hopefully use it successfully on my next.
    Should I consider asunder because it only lists Linux ?

    I have an awesome " V/A Nazis make good targets"
    I thought I got it off APN a million years ago.....though my mind tends to forget in me Old age. ☺️

    The ones I have personal experience with are EAC, fre:ac and dBpoweramp so I can only speak for those when it comes to actual use - and of those fre:ac is the only one also available on Linux. It's very easy and similar to EAC (one of the most used and beloved software when it comes to ripping CD:s) to use and it pulls information from CDDB/GNUdb to name the files correctly and has support for AccurateRip that ensures your results are correct (it compares the files to other known good rips, basically).

    The search function on here is a bit wonky at times, I've searched for threads I know are there but come up short most of the time.

    The thread does exist but the link is long gone so feel free to re-up it. It may be obvious but here's a tip when searching for VA or Various Artists albums: just search for the title and leave out the VA part.

    Hm... Then it seems the search is wonky only on my end... :o When I search for "Nazis make good targets" (as I did the first time as well) I get "No results found". I've tried it with and without quotemarks, I've tried to open advanced search and search in certain sections and globally, I've even tried case sensitive. But no results.

    Except for now, that is. Now this thread shows up. :) But not the one actually called "Nazis make good targets".

    Edit: I found the compilation outside of this site though! It's 60 tracks on two CD:s, but the rip I found is only 160 kbps. If @divotfreely@divotfreely have better quality I'll wait for them to upload, if not then I can upload this later today.

    Yeah I've also had problems with the main Search button (on the top right) when looking for downloads. I don't use the search button anymore; instead I open up a download thread and type what I'm looking for directly into the search field on that thread.

    I am currently using Asunder for a G-ANX album.
