More than 3.000 left-wing protesters demonstrated against an upcoming eviction of one of the last Squat in the center of Berlin next Wednesday. Around 1.000 riot-cops and water-cannons were deployed. At the end of the demonstration rioting broke out. Several dozen people were arrested; several more people were wounded – mostly due to police violence (batons and tear gas were used). One press photographer was taken to hospital.

Many protesters chanted also slogans in support of the Egypt uprising.

Well, Liebigstrasse 14 wasn't really a squat anymore, it was squatted early in the 90's, achieved quickly a very good reputation - and was legalized with rent contracts, allowing some stability for a residential project.
Then the house was sold, the relations with one of the new owners were getting worse and an endless story of court disputes started - the people lost, the owner won and the eviction was pronounced last year - too bad that it was now executed finally.

After some mobilisation protest started in Hamburg, Leipzig, in Hannover a house in the Schaufelderstr. was squatted with some 80 people, the cops drove by two times and left again somehow surprised.

Yesterday Hamburg saw another non-violent protest with 250 people, most of them left the action after some protesters started to demolize cars and smashing in windows, 81 friends attacked the police, in the vicinity of the town hall cops with batons and pepperspray entered the fray, 16 people were arrested.

Kopenhagen (Denmark) expressed it's solidarity with another adventurous friday eve at the autonomous youth centre „Ungdomshus“, bottles and molotov-cocktails were thrown at the cops who were quickly reinforced and entered the Ungdomshus, clearing it temporarily.
