I was reading an article on Luigi Galleani on Wikipedia, he was an insurrectionary anarchist, active in the United States from 1901 to 1919.

And i read this passage on the web page and it reminded me of what is going on in the pacific north west...

Nov. 18 - About 75 people showed up to SeaTac Federal Detention Center for a noise demo in solidarity with grand jury resisters. Two resisters, Matt Duran and Katherine Kteeo Olejnik, have been locked away inside the detention center since September 13 and September 27, respectively, for refusing to cooperate with a secret federal Grand Jury investigation targeting anarchists in the Pacific Northwest.

A sound system blasted anti-police/anti-state music at the prison's ominous facade while prisoners pressed their bodies to the frosted windows and flicked their cell lights on and off. Outside, people screamed and pounded on pots and pans.

Some pigs were on the roof ogling us and taking photos and some other pigs stood between the demo and the prison. Generally the pig presence was lower than this author expected.

Though it is difficult to ascertain the effects of a noise demo from the outside, we do know that today we temporarily broke the through isolation of caged life. We hope that our presence added fuel to the anger festering inside that prison. And even if they couldn't hear us themselves, word will surely get to Matt and Kteeo.

Anonymous announces Operation Grand Jury Resisters

    Wed, 02/06/2013 - 23:20 | Anonymous

Greetings; we are Anonymous. It has recently come to our attention that the FBI, local police and the Department of Homeland Security are now and have been engaged in acts of espionage against US citizens. Their only reasoning for doing this is they feel threatened by their own citizens. It is clear that they would not feel this way if they were acting appropriately in the first place. With so many new laws enacted in the past 10 years that slowly but surely eat away at our rights and freedoms as human beings, such as NDAA and the USA Patriot Act, it should be no surprise that there has been a rise in activism within the citizenship. That in itself is a right protected by our Constitution and Bill of Rights that they so callously spit upon every day.

On May Day, 2012, in the city of Seattle, there was a large demonstration, as there is every year supporting workers’ rights. As usual, there were supporters of other causes on scene and a large contingency of black bloc. They caused the usual destruction to banks, storefronts and also to an old federal courthouse building. This story, of course, was blown way out of proportion. Even though there was a large amount of damage done, it was only done by a small group within the black bloc. While Anonymous does not inherently condone destruction and violence, we also do not speak against it. It is up to the individual and/or groups to decide upon tactics that they use to get across the point that they are trying to voice. We understand that many of us in the world today feel powerless against the machine and railing against it with words can feel ineffectual. It is then that many turn to “violence”, though many will say smashing out a window is not exactly an act of violence as there is no harm directed toward any people.

There were many individuals targeted by the police and federal officials following that day for the actions and an investigation and a federal secret Grand Jury was launched to find those responsible so they could be brought to justice… or so they say.

There is one big problem with the story that is being told regarding that though. That grand jury was already put together long before the May Day ‘riots’.

On Wednesday, July 25th, the FBI conducted a series of coordinated raids against activists in Portland, Olympia, and Seattle. They subpoenaed several people to a special federal grand jury and seized computers, black clothing and anarchist literature. This comes after similar raids in Seattle in July and earlier raids of squats in Portland. Though the FBI has said that the raids are part of a violent crime investigation, the truth is that the federal authorities are conducting a political witch-hunt against anarchists and others working toward a more just, free, and equal society. The warrants served specifically listed anarchist literature as evidence to be seized, pointing to the fact that the FBI and police are targeting this group of people because of their political ideas. Pure and simple, these raids and the grand jury hearings are being used to intimidate people whose politics oppose the state’s agenda.

Additionally… THIS EMAIL( http://portlandradicle.files.wordpress. ... 26-jpg.png ) PROVES, THEY HAD THIS PLANNED BEFORE THE ACTIONS IN SEATTLE MAYDAY.

For all of these reasons and others, including this quote:

“An FBI surveillance team, followed five of the suspects north from Portland when they drove to Olympia the day before the May first riots.” the FBI agent told the court.

Anonymous has created Operation Grand Jury Resisters. #OpGJResisters We shall do what we do in support of these brave individuals who are standing up so strongly against a corrupt system they are willing to sit in a federal prison in solitary confinement.

Events will be planned each Monday and secondly each additional day that OpGJResisters makes an announcement that there is another court date, or, that there is an action planned by other activists in that area.

It is highly important that these sites are rendered inaccessible, firstly each Monday and secondly each additional day that OpGJResisters makes an announcement that there is another court date, or that there is an action planned by other activists in that area.

    We are Anonymous.
    We are legion.
    We do not forgive.
    We do not forget.
    Expect us.

Two Grand Jury Resisters Released; Maddy Pfeiffer Moved From Solitary Confinement

Last night Matt Duran and Katherine “Kteeo” Olejnik were released from the Sea-Tac Federal Detention Center where they spent the last five months for refusing to testify before a Seattle grand jury investigating the anarchist movement . A third resister, Maddy Pfeiffer, remains in prison, but has been moved from solitary confinement to the general population.

Duran and Olejnik were greeted by friends and family as they left the detention center. Their lawyers, Kim Gordon and Jenn Kaplan, had filed motions arguing that their confinement was punitive. Under the law, imprisonment for civil contempt is not supposed to punish witness but coerce them into testifying.

Duran and Olejnik had been sent to prison in September after refusing to testify before a federal grand jury investigating the anarchist movement. While ostensibly investigating vandalism that occurred during a May Day protest last year, the grand jury has been widely criticized for conducting a witch-hunt targeting people for their political ideas and affiliation. For the past five months, supporters across the country have been continually pressuring Judge Jones and District Attorney Jenny Durkan to release the grand jury resisters. Yesterday’s release was a victory for the resisters and all their supporters.

According to Judge Richard Jones’ decision:

“Both Ms. Olejnik and Mr. Duran have provided extensive declarations explaining that although they wish to end their confinement, they will never end their confinement by testifying. The court finds their declaration persuasive. They have submitted to five months of confinement. For a substantial portion of that confinement, they have been held in the special hosing unit of the Federal Detention Center at SeaTac, during which they have had no contact with other detainees, very little contact even with prison staff, and exceedingly limited ability to communicate with the outside world. . . . [C]onfinement in the special housing unit entails 23 hours of solitary each day and an hour of solitary time alone in a larger room each day, a single fifteen minute phone call each month. . ., and exceedingly limited access to reading and writing material. Their physical health has deteriorated sharply and their mental health has also suffered from the effects of solitary confinement. Their confinement has cost them; they have suffered the loss of jobs, income, and important personal relationships. . . . For these witnesses, however, their resolve appears to increase as their confinement continues.”

“We’re glad the courts have finally seen fit to stop torturing Matt and Kteeo in an effort to make them talk,” said Chris of the Committee Against Political Repression. ”But of course they should never have been there to begin with, and Maddy Pfeiffer remains in prison for their refusal to cooperate with this political witch-hunt.”

Great that the other two have been released as a minimum. Obviously, I hope they get well soon.

And I've got to say, it's really impressive what they have endured. A lot of respect for them!
