Android is an open source operating system. If you want to modify it then you can. You can even stick your version on your phone if you didn't fuck up the OS's communications with the radio stack. Even if you brick your phone's connection to the network you can experiment as you please with the phone's OS. I run the applications that I wrote on my android phone. Google even came out with a package that allows non programmers to develop applications for the android without learning Java. Android is helping to bring back technology to the common person.

You can hang out with John Zerzan and his uncomfortably short yellow shorts in anarcho-primitivist land ; ) I think that technology that enables people to create is good in my book.
