The Lurkers are an English punk rock band from Uxbridge, West London. The band were one of the early punk bands that played live in the first few months of the Roxy Club in London. ‘Relentless, uncompromising barrage of 100 mph raw punk rock, taking its lead from the Ramones but replacing the bubblegum factor with an aggressive edge more akin to Motörhead’. The Lurkers - Wikipedia

I used to jokingly refer to this band as The British Ramones, because, at least to my ears, the lead singer sounds similar to Joey Ramone. Definitely good 77 Brit punk. Shame they never came to Chicago, as I would've loved to have seen them. (Fuck, I didn't even know they played New York, and at Max's at that!)

The Lurkers lyrics weren't quite as "dumb" as the Ramones, but they are similar sounding bands.
