I was given this website long ago, but i thought i'd share it here.
I did a quick search and it didn't seem like it had been posted before

Knowmore.org is a free website where you can type in the brand name of the product you're buying, and the site will bring up some articles, that will tell you of all corruption and violations this company is behind, which company is behind the brand etc. Even if the database currently doesn't cover all the bad companies out there (we all know there are loads!), it covers some of the worst sinners. Therefore, you can use this as a tool to buying better products.

Also, the site features news and blogs and such

    The site itself says:

"The aim of Knowmore.org is to raise awareness of corporate abuse, and to serve as a catalyst for direct action against corporate power.
Ethical Consumerism is an important movement toward corporate reform, through which individuals recognize their own role in systems of oppression, and take personal steps toward resistance and positive change.
However, the problem of unchecked corporate power is systemic and goes far beyond the scope of any single boycott or campaign.
Once you've seen enough of Knowmore's data and familiarized yourself with our Issues section, check out our Direct Action page to get involved!"

The one who told me about it also said that there should be a toolbar for mozilla firefox for it (i don't use firefox much, so i don't know).

I'll check out the site you linked to

I was looking through stuff to find this website because I forgot what it was called. Was stoked I found this thread, but when I go to the site now it tells me there's a malware warning. :(
