Is is ok to joke about the holocaust?

It's not okay. Pretty sure that kind of joking is actually banned in Germany (though I don't know that first-hand, maybe one of our EU brethren could shed some light). Either this dude's just trying to be "edgy", or he's an actual Nazi, testing the waters to see who laughs with him. The fact that no one else is calling him out on it is pretty telling. I'd either do my best to get faaaaar away from these people, or start looking for backup, because it sounds like you're outnumbered, and possibly in danger.

 

I mean, the fact that he is German should actually make him think twice about behaving like that. Unless of course he really is a neo-nazi. But to know that for sure you'd have to talk to him and ask him how he really feels about it. Could be he's just doing it to get attention. But yeah, I would ask him some questions.

That kind of joking is not really banned in Germany unless it amounts to hate speech. Nazi symbols are banned, as well as the nazi salute. But Neo Nazis usually get around that by doing the 3 finger salute.

 

100% not okay. Different sense of humour, my foot. Being German is no excuse, either. In addition to that, countries like mine won't let you in if you're caught sieg heiling wherever you are.

 

In my opinion...NO! Like the other replies have said, he's just trying to be 'edgy', that guy needs a reality check, and his saying "I'm German so it's okay" makes it 100x worse, it wouldn't be as bad if he said "I'm jewish so it's okay" because they were the real vicitms, would it be as funny? No, but it wouldn't be as concerning and weird. But I'm just stating my opinion on this take :/

I will try to make this thought with few words.
If it is wrong to joke about the Holocaust because of all the innocents that died like humans ( I want to use the word animals , to compare it to slaughter houses= wasted lives) it is equally wrong to joke about people burnt in the name of religion?

deviated - it is all doomy doomy - like every second of everyday of humanity history. Ain't no glory in being human , IME. & I think the world is dead....but I am off topic....thank you for opening mi vent.

Edit- A-P and my family give me happy hope , even though my core tells me our numbers are small and/or not united= humans are DOOMed. ( might be better for this planet but now I am going waaayyy off topic.)
