Well, I've had a profile on this site for a little while now, never really introduced myself in any particular manner, but now I feel I should.

I feel as though I understand and can agree with general Anarchist rhetoric, I understand the evils of capitalism, racism, homophobia, sexism, and other such things, but what I could really use at this point is substance. I know that this site would be the best place to find out about readings that can really explain how a society without a government would work. Based on what I have read on this site and other places, as well as time pondering the subject within my own mind, I have a general understanding of what an anarchist society would be like. I know that I can argue about how things like how American Idol are destroying what music should be, but otherwise, I want to be able to really defend my ideals in a political debate. I live in northern Wisconsin and am surrounded by a few centrists and plenty of right-wingers (including a friend's father who is unabashedly a supporter of Confederate ideals), and as a result of such, I am hesitant to express my beliefs.

The more the better, as I can get an understanding from several view points that may vary in some ways, as I know that despite our common belief in an anti-fascism, there are people here who hold somewhat conflicting ideas on how things should be exactly.

Otherwise, I do my best to avoid hypocrisy in living my life. I avoid buying name-brand clothes, avoid shopping at places such as Wal-Mart, but there is only so much one can avoid without proper support from fellow anarchists and finances. I know that I can do better than what I am doing at the moment, and would love to be able to feel more at-peace with the way I live my life in regards to being an exemplar of what I stand for.

Thanks to all who read this, I hope that I may prove to be a worthwhile ally.

    some little advise in general:
evade pressing yourself in positions/imags/labels you are found of right now for whatever reason. be yourself, keep your eyes open, follow your interests and curiosity, look out for answers to your questions & question them again.
there is not a single perfect punk, anarchist, saviour of our world avaliable, no codex to follow, no doctrin that hasn't brought out it's immanent flaws in the past or will bring them out in the future. tactics and strategies working for one place may be fine - but they won't work in the next place.

    I think there is only one exception: o r g a n i z e!

as close as possible to where you live with as many people living with you possible.
be patient and cautious, take step by step, start a band, discuss your readings or the news with your friends, search for practical alternatives to whats going on in your neighborhood, town and so on.
evade black&white positions like "... are destroying what music should be" - this isn't true as long as there are humans walking the planet, we are still far from the end of times and apocalyptic views only distract and agonize.
the choice is yours: pick up a guitar or a bass, squeeze yourself behind a drum set, put your experiences to paper, shape them into lyrics and no fucking idol can hinder you.
you don't have to defend anything, anarchism too can't be destroyed as long humans... and maybe even centrism & the ol'dixie will continue their undead existence for much longer than we would like to - flawed as they are.
uncover these flaws, point out the destructive aspects of liberalism and the illusion of the idyllic life on the backs of those who don't fit the bill, but have to pay for it, thus providing the very base of everything thats thrown upon their shoulders.
do the necessary best you can, right now you can't opt out of capitalism, so don't waste your time & energy with self-doubt and feelings of guilt.

again: be yourself and become an experienced, capable, solidly and reliable friend of the people - short: an anarchist...

Such is the reason that I would like to see the varying beliefs that are held by people on this site. Otherwise, I have found maybe one like-minded individual, but he is neither punk nor musician, so all I really have is an acoustic guitar and a voice. But, one that will be used for positive social change. As "punk" as that may not be, it matters little to me.
