Yo, that's some deep stuff man. I just got into anarchy through the punk scene, you know. Just sick of the system and all its BS. It's all about DIY and fighting the power, man. We don't need them telling us what to do, gotta stick it to the man! Keep spreading the word, we gotta wake people up to the truth!

Man, that’s wild. Psychedelics can really crack open your mind, huh? I totally get the whole “work together and share” vibe. Money's just a tool for control; it fucks everything up. It’s like we’re all stuck in this hamster wheel just to keep the rich fat and happy while we struggle to survive. Anarchy is about freedom, not some bullshit paycheck! Keep pushing those ideas through your art; it’s how we spark change!

Same here, Jang! Crass and Conflict. Crass turned me onto antiChristianity also. Bad Religion turned me onto Atheism and Agnosticism in my teens.

I would say Crass really opened my mind to the idea that we could destroy power, not people, and become punk activists also. The Anarchist Communism of the White/Black Panther movement of the 60's also seriously opened my mind to the idea that we could fight all oppressive power structures including organized religions, and all heirarchies and profiteers. Going Vegan Cruelty Free was just icing on the cake for me, however, associating myself with Christian Anarchism, Straight Edge, AnarchoCapitalism, and Hardline militancy was not fucking punk for me, it seriously fucked me up, but I recovered from those unpunk beliefs and am now back to my same Anarchist Communist self. We need to come together and unite against Capitalist greed, greedy corporations, bosses, religions, and reject all governments and political violence in the scene!

Religions and governments setup punks to be violent pose(u)rs. That's my experience with them. I would not believe in the State or bourgeois corporate greed. All relationships and marriages are based on Capitalism in my eyes also, but it's not a stereotype. It's just a shit life to be married or in a relationship with a conformist to money and I don't wish that on anyone.

Yes, even Communists and Socialists can be Liberal Statists and turn their backs on Anarchists for Capitalist greed. That's why I don't do mainstream politics, and I agree that it's kind of what's happening to some hippies and punks who are sellout pose(u)rs and never understood the true meaning of PUNK. PUNK is punk, if you aren't rejecting mainstream politics, greed, and macho violence, you're not a punk.

Simply put, if you're into PUNK because you think it can make you a popular Star and alot of money, you're a pose(u)r and sellout and no punk will totally accept you. I learned my lesson about that.

You're in the wrong scene if you think punks are AnarchoCapitalists. Most punks are Left Wing and not for Capitalism.

When I was young 15/16 I had an existential identity crisis dad and brothers were all military Army, Navy, Marines etc....

I realized through basic training there was a sense of round peg and follow orders, I wasn't about that. I made it through basic training and graduated but was later on let go for psychological reasons. All the while I had that urge that rebellious nature to say fuck no!

When let go from service there was a deep draw to activism and be about that life. Mind you this was mid 90s 94'-96' we America wasn't on the brink of authorization and 4th Reich. So there were issues I took on my sleeve however from tree sitting, to direct action at several corporate entities, and other peaceful protesting as well as black bloc fighting back and anti Nazi marchs.

They'll always be protected and we'll always get the shaft, which is why my heart goes out to those who fight and stand up. My political discourse has felt lethargic and who cares?! They'll win every fucking time, no matter what.

During elementary & first half of middle school I was bullied a lot & was usually the only one who got in trouble for it due to being held to double standards by my teachers & principles. If I told on a bully I was told that they were just being friendly but when I did the same I was in trouble for being the bully or the bullies would simply lie about me & they were automatically believed over me. I can NOT respect authority when the authority enforces double standards, practices favoritism, & seems to make the unpopular or disadvantaged the scapegoats.

Very luckily the bullying & me usually being the one in trouble changed after I switched schools in the middle of 6th grade but I hate it when others are harmed or mistreated for simply being themselves when they were not harming or causing problems. During my 30s (I'm 42 right now) it seems like the US started rapidly turning more intolerant & downright hatefull towards others who do not fit in.

I started listening to punk music a bit more & it really resonated with me. A lot of it was older stuff but it seems like the music is becoming more relevant due to a lot of the progress we made since the punk movement started being reversed.

I also have a chronic health issue that's negatively affecting my quality of life. The current standard treatments have been ineffective & latest med class is unaffordable for me due to my insurance only approving very sever cases due to to it's insane cost. I know from LOTS of online research that an older class of meds is sometimes used long-term for more sever cases before the majorly expensive treatment came out & that my insurance does not require prior authorization for that class of meds. My doctors refuse to consder prescribing me the older class due to concern about potential side-effects. I tried giving them links to online articles, said I would get regular blood-work & that I'd sign a waiver. The meds are not restricted nor controlled substances. I'm an adult & I deserve the right to make my own health care decisions instead of getting the runaround when trying to access a treatment that would be affordable & potentially helpfull. I resorted to ordering a med online & it is helping some. I'd much rather have an actual prescription filled at my nearby pharmacy & get regular blood-work done to monitor for side-effects but at this point I'd rather take the risk. I can only imagine how hellish it must be for women & trans people being denied their essential health care.

I can't really say the moment I decided to start calling myself an anarchist, I've just always been about freedom and justice. Raised that way I guess. I wasn't even into that much punk music until recently, I went to school for jazz and I'd been a prog rock guy for most of my life, my only real exposure to punk was through ska. I got "into punk" while researching ska groups as inspiration for my recent album, clicking through wikipedia and getting stuff that sounded interesting, falling down that familiar rabbit-hole. I joined Lemmy after the reddit api fiasco, which leans much harder to the left, learned a bit from the dbzero instance, read some theory, and somewhere between all that I realized that I've kind of always been an anarchist! I've always been distrustful of authority, hated the concept of money, and promoted equal rights and justice for everyone, so having a name for it now doesn't feel too different! I'd been aware of "anarchy" as it's been portrayed, as basically a synonym for "chaos", but something someone said on Lemmy really opened my eyes, so to say: "Anarchy doesn't mean no rules. Anarchy means no rulers."

I would say what got me into anarchism was I got really tired of being bossed around back in middle school, I went to a traditional school and I got in trouble a lot for being out of dress code and some other shit and I just got really tired of the principle and the dean of students bossing me around especially since the way the way they acted was like cops even when you got in trouble and stuff and in about 8th grade I found Minor Threat and I loved their music so much and I agreed with so many of their ideals and then I found some other bands like Crass and Descendants and Dead Kennedys and I felt like I had a connection with these old dudes and then in about freshman year I start calling myself an anarchist.
