Hi. The name is -- ... well, for right now, you all can call me Phoenix. I'm sure in time I will be comfortable enough to release my real name. Can't ever be too certain who lurks in the shadows. Well, I am a member of the human race, technically speaking, and while I'm from the US of A, which would therefore make me American, I would rather like to think of myself as simply human. Enough of the ramblings.

Uhhh, 22 years, 5 months, 2 days and approximately 12 hours old, of course, what does it really matter... time is arbitrary.

College graduate, two Bachelors degrees, Linguistics and Political Science. My dream is to go back to school, earn a masters in Speech Language Pathology and certification by the American't Speech and Hearing Association, blah blah blah. In the end, my goal with this whole thing is to run a non-profit clinic, modeled after the Cleveland Clinic, except instead of focusing on medical, it would be more of a place for various medical therapies... occupational, mental, speech, etc, with a few MDs thrown into the mix with all medical staff being on equal footing. Not sure how it's all going to work out, but I have a bit of time before the dream becomes imminent.

Anyway. I am a general leftist. I don't call myself an anarchist, at times I'll refer to my political beliefs as being "Libertarian Socialist" or what have you, which causes my family to all have a fit. But, to be honest, my political philosophy is dependent on what is right in my mind, and not the platform of the Democran or Republicat party (I voted for Cynthia McKinney in '08, who shortly thereafter had an unfortunate run in with the Israeli Navy). Efforts to a real and lasting peace is big in my book, but I also realize that the only real and lasting peace must be built on equality. If one group is more equal than others, then chaos ensues. And not the good kind (drum roll and crickets).

As for musically, I enjoy, I don't perform. I used to play the violin, but I didn't have the patience to progress beyond a certain point. I've done some DJ'ing work, but found it way too humiliating after having been practicing for 2-3 years and only being able to get a gig for $100 at a REALLY spoiled 15 year old girl's birthday party. After that... well... However, I'm not just stuck on punk. I was raised on classical music, and still enjoy it while driving, as it's the only thing that's any good on the radio. That and some old school jazz. If anyone has some speak easy jazz, I'd love to get my hands on some.

Let's chat, folks. I'd love to hear what my fellow humans have to say. Ich spreche OK Deutsch auch. Es gefallt mir zum sprechen mit ein Paar Freundinnen aus Deutschland/Oesterreich/die Schweiz, jada jada.

Oh yea, I found this when a friend from another forum announced that this site existed/had open membership.
