Okay what the actual fuck mentally ill or Rastafarian?!

Anyone who use this piss poor excuse for shitty behavior, call me an asshole for calling it like I see it.

He should've thought as a voice in a scene especially a representative of the black community and using that voice to say hateful shit is selfish and at worst lame as fuck!

See THIS right here hits me deep in the guts, I met Stig in Bristol UK while on a road trip for a skate team I was filming this was 02' mind you.

I was filming a line with a friend and board zipped out and Stig caught it, I apologized as it caught his ankle.

I had a bootleg Amebix shirt on and he said nice shirt. That's my band where'd you get it? I explained I had gotten it from a friend in Japan and have been wearing it 6x out of the week. It literally was rotting off of me.

We exchanged emails afterwards now fast forward to 2009 when they had their US tour I had been emailing Stig since our initial interaction.

I got to buy all their gear at Neumo's in Seattle and got to see them at Hawthorne Theater in Portland and secret show in Portland house show.

When I spoke with these guys Rob came off as smug in a lot of his views but nothing too prickish as holocaust denier?! Stig is still a pen pal and I have his address to write snail mail too, this band was such an essential band to me when I grew up.

I know my ramblings don't convey enough to how I feel, it just disappoints me to think a rad band member that had quite a prolific affect on me turned out to be a holocaust denier, that really cements my opinion on Rob Miller, Stig and the drummer is rad but FUCK the Baron and his bullshit!

Every civilized country on this planet has laws that people who are not mentally competent are not responsible for their crimes. H.R. has actual diagnosed mental illness and serious medical issues related to his brain. He spent a couple of decades self medicating with drugs before being diagnosed, and was homeless. Do you really think the mentally ill should be held responsible in the same was those who aren't are held responsible? You sound like you think we should just lock up everyone who does anything wrong even if they are unable to control their behavior due to mental illnesss or have mental disabilities. Do you think we should just empty all the mental hospital and assisted living facilities for the mentally disabled and just lock them up in prisons? How about people with Alzheimers? Some people who are mentally ill, or have Alzheimers, or who are mentally disabled do strange, sometimes violent, sometimes wildly inappropriate things? Should they all just be thrown in jail? If you think people who are not mentally competent should be punished in the same way as others, then you are basically endorsing some sort of Nazi/Triumph of the Will way of looking at things.

No I don't think those with Mental Issues should be imprisoned, however having been in a situation where a mentally ill person stabbed me and mangled my face with a blade should be set free?

Where do you draw the line? losing your limbs a loved one hurt?

When someone shoots up a place and has been declared mentally ill after the fact do you really excuse his behavior?

Basically all you'll be getting is Angry Anderson and whatever band he has cobbled together. Some of the original members have died or retired. Anderson ran in a recent election as a One Nation candidate, which is a racist, xenophobic, Islamophobic party. Their leader read out an It's Okay to be White statement in the senate here not long ago. Caused quite a stir. She also pulled a stunt wearing a burqa so that she could rip it off and call it and Islam un-Australian. They also like guns. Before they hated Muslims, they hated Indigenous people. So good luck with diplomacy, I doubt you'll change his mind, even if you can get near him. Sorry to burst anyone's bubble on this one.

No. They've just faded into obscurity. Unlike Anderson from RT, you don't hear anything about them one way or the other. I'm surprised anyone outside of oz has even heard of the Spiders. I had that lp back in the day, lost it when the record collection went up in smoke at my brothers house in the nineties.

Of course not. That's what mental health facilities are for. People need to be there BEFORE they do something violent though, or even before they end up homeless or self medicating with drugs. But of course many people get their diagnosis far too late. HR is in his 60s. If he'd been properly diagnosed decades ago, he'd maybe have gotten the correct treatment. His anti-gay and racist statements, and far worse things like violent outbursts against friends and family, happened when he was undiagnosed. Maybe if he'd gotten the correct treatment back in the day, none of those things would have happened. But regardless, I'm not holding him to the same standards as people who don't have mental health issues.

Another good band who has disappointed me after all these years. Well, as you said, some of the original members have died or retired, so it won't be quite the same. From what you say, it will be hard to change his mind, but you can't say I won't try. (If I can actually talk to him)

Excuse me for butting in here. You're both making valid points, from each end of the spectrum. The following link provides an example of how the courts deal with the mentally ill who have killed someone. In this case a schizophrenic junkie bashed an elderly woman who died of her injuries. The junkie was charged with manslaughter rather than murder as she couldn't have the intent to kill because of her mental illness.Read the sentencing remarks of the judge at the bottom of the article and you'll get a flavour of the swings and round-a-bouts the judge negotiates. Hope it helps to clarify things. Our prisons, like those elsewhere have a high proportion of mentally ill inmates. They do not get off scot-free.
