It's slang for a messed up situation, originating during the Vietnam War, I think. "Fucked Up, Got Ambushed, Zipped In".

    This.

Fugazi is the shit. I love them for the DIY ethic and for leaving off the hardcore rigidity and helping to establish post-hardcore. I can only take so much of hardcore's wall of sound bit at time. The hardcore scene I've never been a fan of. Too many pit jocks and other sorts of assholes. Anyway, yeah, I'm a Fugazi fan. I heard The Evens were better, so I've gotten those albums, though haven't listened to 'em enough yet to compare. I'm not sure I'd say definitively that Fugazi is better than Minor Threat, but I do listen to Fugazi more.

Not in Italian, Fugazi isn't even a word we use.

Anyway, excellent band both musically and 'aesthetically'. Obviously not as good as Minor Threat to my eyes, but they still that something and did do some really good and innovative stuff musically. And 'aesthetically' you couldn't but respect them, no matter how big they got, they still cared about people having a chance to listen to their music and being concious about the choices of where to play and who for.

The Evens are good eh, they played here a few years ago and I went and saw them, before that I didn't even know who Ian MacKaye was. It was such a sweet gig, just like forty or so of us sitting in front of the stage and he got us all singing along and stuff. I love everything MacKaye's done really, couldn't say any one was better than the others. I'm going through a second stage of listening to heaps of Fugazi now though.

Exactly, you can't really blame bands like Fugazi that were the base for emo. It is sad to see how the genre evolved into what it is today, very sad...

Seen them in about 1990 at the Riverside Newcastle. The crowd were shouting for minor threat songs and Mackaye told people off for stage diving. Still think Waiting Room is one of my all time favorite tracks from that time.

I like how they where against moshing because of how over the top and violent it was at the time

I don't see how anyone could claim he was a sell out. The guy still charges no more than 10 bucks a gig even over here in New Zealand. He's obviously not in it for the money.

I love Fugazi. I love Minor Threat as well. The thing I like most about MacKaye's stuff is he isn't afraid to try new things, to branch out musically. I got to meet him when Fugazi played here in like 95 or 96. I could tell he was doing it purely for the love of the music. Really great guy.

I don't he ever sold out, ever. In fact, I think he's the perfect example of how you can reach a wide audience and still keep your ideals.
