Hey guys, I don't know if any guys on here are aware of the BDS anti Zionist protests which have been happening of late, but the recent one in Brisbane was successfully attacked by fascist fuckwits and they are planning a similar mobilization in Melbourne. Whether you feel super strongly about Israels genocide of Palestine or not is not of relevance here, the fact is that this would have to be one of the first successful fascist actions in a good 15-20 years in australia and we need to stamp out any momentum these nazi fucks are trying to build, letting them know they have no place here, or anywhere else for that matter.

    Here are some links to
    a) an article describing the situation as it stands
    b) an article explaining why nazis support israel
c)the facebook event describing the rally, where it is being held etc.

We need a massive show of solidarity from all antifascist elements in Melbourne, be they socialist, communist or anarchist, to show the fascist scum that any attempts by them to mobilize will not be tolerated and they will be stamped out with extreme force. i cannot reiterate enough that this goes beyond the politics of the rally, this has become an antifascist action as well as an anti-zionist rally and any and all antifascists should be there with boots on.

I hope to see you in attendance.

the facebook event link don't work.

where is this planned rally? Who are organising it? etc, etc...
Is it something like a planned 'counter rally' at one of the (seems like) weekly Student For Palestine rallies outside Max Bremer?

the fascist mobilisation is in response to the max brenner rally.

Like i said its not necessarily whther or not you agree with the politics of the rally, its about cutting off the momentum of the ADL and the APP so they don't start really mobilizing and making their presence felt across the board.

I agree, there are a number of reasons why I have absolutely no interest in going to the max bremer rallies (or any of those SAlt organised Palestine rallies), nevertheless, a fascist counter-demo changes things.

However, where is the information that the ADL or APP are planning a counter demo? Besides the APP ain't got a presence down here anywayz, and with the ADL's fuhrer, Martin Brennan, deported for being an illegal immigrant, I'm not sure how capable either are at actually mobilising folks here in Melbz. But yeah, i guess i'd like to know who has made this call for a counter-demo, and where i can see it on teh internetz...

According to Slackbastard, the fascists plan to counter demo in Sydney not Melbourne, see:
Brenner, BDS, ADL, APDM, APP… A storm in a chocolate mug?
    Moreover, inre:
Seems like the Brisbane rally was fairly similar to what happened in Melbz back in May, i.e. the 'success' of these rallies are pretty debatable. Whilst they seem to be getting a bit better organised, i'd still not trust them to organise a piss up in a brewery. :D But yeah, any and all efforts to ensure that stays the case are worthwhile. However, that the politics of the ADL, APP, et al, aren't actually much more racist than the current 'mainstream' discourse is of much greater concern to me.

    Inre:
    Much better is this:

Also related and in direct response to the rally in Brisbane is:

i'm just being wary. Its better to be prepared for a counter rally and end up doing nothing more than pissing off a few piggys and some righty tighty arsehole imperialists than not mobilizing and seeing the swazis get another win.

I think that whoever is going to the rally should be wary of the possibility of the Zionist groups organising a counter demo against the BDS one. Those Zionists can muster up a large number of people when they want to...it's scary.

yeah dude, i think the zionists get so much love in this country because Israel and australia are both founded on the genocide and displacement of our indigenous peoples. The imperialist jerkoffs in oz feel a kinship with israel.

    So... did anything happen?
A friend went, but got there at 6.15 and said there was no-one there, trots or fash...
Another fbook rumour is an altercation took place between Robbie Thorpe 9whilst on the mic) and a reported 'Zionist counter demonstrator'

sorry dude, we would have already been marching by then. ADL was there, but pretty low numbers, we shouted them down, one of them did go for robbie while he was speaking though, but we all moved in and grabbed her, and stood between untill they fucked off to the edges.

Was a pretty successful demo actually, was playing it safe because as im sure i don't need to say, when capitalism hits its impending and inevitable crisis, the last thing we need is for the fascists to have a presence and convince the middle classes to side with them. If we can shut them down to the point where hardly anybody even knows they exist, then when the crisis comes and the middletons are choosing who to look to, the fash won't even be an option.
