    Egg Hunt Biography

Egg Hunt was a one-off studio collaboration between ex-[a=Minor Threat] members and [l=Dischord Records] owners [a=Ian MacKaye] and [a=Jeff Nelson]. The duo recorded a two-song single while in England over Easter weekend (which served as the inspiration to form the project's name) in 1986. Plans to continue the project with former [a=Gray Matter (2)] members [a=Geoff Turner] and [a=Steve Niles] rounding out the band never came to fruition, although Steve, Geoff, and Jeff would soon form [a=Three (3)]. Egg Hunt marked the last time Ian and Jeff would record together.

Band members: Ian MacKaye, Jeff Nelson

In the spring of 1986 Dischord founders Ian MacKaye and Jeff Nelson (both formerly of Minor Threat) went to England to visit, and were invited by Southern Records founder John Loader to do some recording while they were there. Southern was operated out of a row house in a neighborhood called Wood Green, and John had a 24-track studio set up in the garage. They recorded four songs, including "Me and You", something that the two had been playing together in the basement for many years, and "We All Fall Down", which was written by Ian for Embrace, but had been passed on by the band. Having had such a good time recording and hanging out in London, Ian and Jeff decided to release a single to mark the occasion. The name was chosen since it was recorded over Easter weekend. That summer they tried forming a new band called Egg Hunt with ex-members of Gray Matter, but it wasn't meant to be. The Southern session would turn out to be the last time the two would record music together.

bAttention: Please do always add the postpaid price from the back cover and the country of manufacturing to the notes. It is important to figure out the country and the release date and to avoid double entries. Enter country according to the currency of the price listed on the sleeve (almost always US dollars), NOT the country of manufacture. From 1984 into the 2000s, Dischord manufactured almost exclusively in France and England, but correct country is generally US.
