East Coast Road Trip

My friend and I are thinking about taking a road trip in March along the east coast of the United States and checking out the local venues along the way. We will be starting in CT/NY and working down the coast. I'm wondering if people can tell me their local venues to check out for good shows. The areas we really want to stop and see are DC,Philly,Pittsburgh,Raleigh and Savannah. If there are any of the older venues in DC we would love to go to those.
