Just saw this. Sad news, they had just released a new album and started playing shows again. Colin was always supportive of APN and all of our projects. I still have him in my Facebook friends. Grew up listening to their albums and despite the issues the band had later it will always remain a cult band in the anarcho-punk scene.

Just terrible news. I was reading some old posts here yesterday that mentioned Conflict and what a monumental and influential band they were. It was decades ago when I first heard their albums as a kid and remember being in awe at how good that band was, lyrically and musically. Such a powerhouse of a band. It was through them that really introduced me to Anarchism. I was already listening to political bands like Dead Kennedys, Subhumans (UK), D.O.A. and others but reading Conflict's lyrics was something else.

They had made their way down here some years ago on tour and I managed to see them. Of course, I was ecstatic and equally in awe at seeing Colin front the band in person. I was also confused why they were not headlining the night. Another younger band were headlining and it became clear that the younger people in attendance weren't familiar with Conflict. The kids there weren't too bothered to be missing Conflict's set as the majority were outside and all made their way in to catch the headlining band start up. I don't know if it was out of disrespect or just ignorance but either way: 'The band that influenced the band you are here to see and you missed it.'

Sad news. I never met Colin but from what I've seen & heard he was a kind hearted soul who stood up for what he believed in and wasn't afraid of calling out bullshit, or indeed confronting fascists and getting physical with them at gigs. He was a true inspiration!
I bet some of them will no doubt be kicking themselves now.

    Rest in Peace Colin.
Recently seen Conflict and talked with Colin in Dublin, he is a friend, supported and followed the band for years, myself and Colin are the same age (63) remember us joking about both reaching 60 and wondering how the fuck we managed to do it.
Its a sad loss, condolences to everyone who knew Colin, to his family and friends and also band members past and present

Its been a pleasure my friend

Sorry about his passing, even though we once were aquainted and had a release on his label, he didn't seem to like my Anarchist Communist beliefs, he was a good chap though even though we politically disagreed.

I think he struggled with confusion and hatred as an Anarchist. Didn't we all? Rest his soul though.

Here is a video posted by Colin's kids.
Colin changed my life back when I was a kid in the 80s. I will always remember. Vegetarian since I was 15.

Lyrics for that Conflict cover song I posted and some info on Carlo

This song is about Carlo Giuliani pictured below. He was murdered by an Italian police officer during the protests that took place against the G8 summit in Genoa, Italy. Carlo was an anarchist

    Song lyrics below:

    Carlo lives in everyone
Who with or without reason is
    Finally starting kicking back
That will not back down, can't take it
As mother earth begins to crack

    Carlo ain't the only son
That's life has been extinguished as
    They engage in civil war
A fearful glance into their future
Where robots enforce law - therefore

    Anarchist armies rampage
    Running battles commonplace
    Victorious in battle
    Delivering a fine taste
Of what it feels like to be beaten, battered
    Buggered right up the arse
    Credited with no value
    Worthless to set tasks

    A mother's heart's rebroken
As they punish all statements of defiance
Her wasted wombwork, his hard labour
Their currency of death means silence
Of all who beg for half a chance to
Offer something new, or old or right or wrong
whatever, a different point of view

    Carlo gasps a final breath
    That nails down our voice
Opinions that would be otherwise forgot
A landmark, confirmation of what they
Will do and we will not

    Carlo stops
Thousands of new hearts now beat in unison
    As one
Two, three, four, more, more, more, then more and more
This fight has only just begun

    Begun! Begin! Forgive! Give in!
    Suicide - the ultimate sin
    What once seemed unacceptable
    Needs considering, lets be blunt
Do we accept murder within our ranks?
Should we fight with fists when
They use guns, planes, bombs and tanks?
Do we plead then beg forgiveness?
As their concrete paves our way
As they chop down our Sherwood Forest

Their bullets murder love with hate
Do they forgive and forget those terrorist whores
Do they bollocks. ' come on' war

Bush rubs Tony's warhead shoves it down the starvings throat
They screw the planet up the shitter
    As human nature chokes
    On their fossil fuelled cum
That leaves a bad taste in our mouth
Christ, it is getting kind of hot now
As east meets west and North's gone south

Seasons without reasons merging pitifully into one
Extinctions the prediction, radiation from the sun
Filth pours from what once was beauty
    Now darkened angry skies
Rivers rage and burst their banks, nothing will survive
New sea view homes on city streets
    Atomic tests, earthquakes, the heat
The ice caps melting into blood
    Burning mudslides from above
Fire engulfs, earth caves in, grinding sorely to a halt
    Helpless, demoralized, destroyed, game over

This notice served on the insane
    Sections, condemns, reclaims
    This message commits those silent
To rise up, this time with violence?
Make sure the more they kill, the stronger our will
To finally right your wrongs, one love, this song
Yeah what's done is done, but you expect the same
C.A.R.L.O. you will remember that name
