The article was really well written, and spot-on. The "christian punks" aren't real punks, they just imitate the "look and feel" of the punk movement, and this religious organization mentioned in the article apparently does the same thing with every counterculture movement. It's a very cynical way to say that the one powerful and compelling path (mostly in the deep south and the midwest and I guess southern CA?) to escape from the dominance of a bunch of rules, restrictions, and parables that are the bronze age myths of wandering desert nomads forced onto children by parents, teachers, cops, radio DJs, TV broadcasters, local government and so on is closed off. Christian punk is only intended to exist as long as there is anything about real punk that offers an escape from the authoritarianism and deception of religion. It's more or less the same as "anarcho" capitalism or national "anarchism"... it reminds me of the trotskyists and maoists who practiced "entryist" tactics to sneak into anarchist events (or form fake groups) to push their authoritarian ideology (especially with regards to SDS). It's the same sort of stuff, only they are telling you that everything you do outside of the Bible and what the conservative politicians say is "bad".
