Call out for Pink&Black (Anarcho-Queer) presence for Pride March in Melbourne (7th Feb, 2010)

    Hey,

    We will be meeting where all the other groups meet at 12noon, the Pink&Black assembly will be next to the VIXEN (Victoria Sex Industry Network) is hanging out as we are going to march behind them. The area is located on the corner of Lakeside Drive and Fitzroy Street, St Kilda.

    The march kicks off at 2pm, 7th February 2010. We march down Fitzroy Street to Catani Gardens.

    Bring your flags/banners/picnic stuff/partners/boombox/selves down there. I will be there with a Pink&Black flag come over and say hi. I should have a few spare placards made up so come and grab one off me if you haven't made your own.

    Fuck it was only me and the guy I'm dating who showed up for the Pink&Black assembly.

    I put the callout...everywhere for Melbourne (Australia).

    Goes to show how fucking pathetic the radical Queers can be as a movement in my town. I was not impressed but I marched hard. Found a megaphone on the ground and was like A-HA!!!

    People loved my flag and my signs so I felt a little better and I got interviewed by a community TV network who document activist stuff.

    Was marching in between the Sex Worker group and the Polyamory group. Felt goood!

    Hey. You tried to get people to go. But the fact that <i>you</i> went is the big part! Getting interviewed is a huge plus as well. You are getting your message out there which is the first step! Maybe if you get on the television you'll reach out to someone and get more support for your next event!

    Maybe so but I am still pissed off that nobody other than the guy I am with at the moment showed up for the Bloc.

    Don't get disheartened maybe just organize a little better or ralliy people before the day and have a meeting beforehand to see exactly who is showing up and who is bringing placards etc. maybe put out flyers with a contact phone #. The point is your doing something and with patience people will gravatate t'wards you.....Cheerz :beer:

    Never to fear I am currently working on an Anarcho-Queer Zine and there will be a promotion of the newly established BashBack chapter in Melbourne.

    I am waiting on some contributions, articles, poems, band interviews...I sent Patrick Califia an email to see if he would let me interview him via email another mate wants to write a short Queer porn story...

    It should be heaps of fun to put together.
