So yeah anyone know any good black metal bands that are sort of starting out or still in the "not generally known" stage? Im trying make a collection of rare black metal works.

A couple bands I know are Anticosm, Black Anvil, Immolith, Mythology.

Also please dont bring up ones with nazi or racist tendencies, thanks \m/

I really like Panopticon! Of all the black metal bands think they're excellent, not to mention the fact that band of anarchist. For me from the best albums by Panopticon. It's the Collapse (2009) and Panopticon (2008).

Ives is a a small underground band I found while searching the net. They do not have a best work as they only have demos so far. http://www.last.fm/music/Ives

There are so many fucking branches of black metal. I personally like the more depressive, ambient, earthy bands like Wolves in the Throne Room or Shining. But of course the old ones like Burzum, Darkthrone, Gorgoroth, Carpathian Forest and many others. There's also weird sub sub genres like Viking Black metal like Hammer Horde and Stoner black like Dopethrone, or goth black like Virgin black then there's folk black which has ties to the earthy black metal and the viking. I don't like labeling bands but these are rather accurate. It's pretty absurd how many sub (sub x?) genres of Black Metal there are

Suthkh Hexen, from what I heard, is great blackened noise. Just wish their releases weren't ultra limited.

Same here. If you like Burzum you should go on Varg's website and read his own words. He's a Nazi people should be given shit for wearing Burzum patches and shirts. He might have some talent but he has some pretty stupid ideas.

Wow, I took your advice and went to read some of his half-baked ramblings. The dude is fucking mental, to be sure. Just the introduction to his interview in Terrorizer is possible one of the most perplexing things I've ever read. He really seems to think he's some sort of fucking god. I wish people wouldn't pay so damned much attention to him, and he wasn't so "cool". Then he'd just disappear into a shack somewhere and write his depraved bullshit and maybe die of starvation at the point he became convinced that gods needn't eat.
