Argentina: Troops deployed after looting

Argentine authorities have sent hundreds of troops to the southern city of Bariloche after a spate of looting.

At least three supermarkets in the popular ski resort were targeted, causing panic among local residents and tourists.

Dozens of people, many with their faces covered, broke into the supermarkets stealing electronics, toys and clothes.

The government blamed small criminal gangs but local authorities pinned the attacks on anarchist organisations.

Looters in Bariloche Looters in Bariloche threw stones at police who responded with tear gas.

Governor Alberto Weretilneck called for federal troops to restore order in Rio Negro, in the country's Patagonia region.

"With this type of action, these groups have been trying to paint a false picture of social and political collapse," the provincial authorities said in a statement.

The attacks took place in San Carlos de Bariloche, an Andean resort popular with tourists from other South American countries.

Local police said other shops and depots on the outskirts of the town were also targeted by looters. All shops closed after the thefts.

President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner has been in constant communication with the province's governor, according to her spokesman Juan Manuel Abal Medina.

He said the Bariloche attacks were linked to the sabotage of power lines earlier on Thursday in the neighbouring province of Neuquen.

Buenos Aires, Argentina: More than 100 cars burned in the month of November 2012

We report that during this past November over a hundred luxury car were burned in Buenos Aires in the neighborhoods of Recoleta, Palermo, Belgrano, Nuñez, Villa Urquiza and Villa Devoto. The cause of the incendiary action of anonymous hands that call themselves "Friends of Earth" FAI.

The car that on Saturday 8/12 at 2:30 burned on the 1700 block of Coronel Diaz Ave., and just five blocks and minutes later burned the transfer vehicle of the PFA Cria.21 (PFA = Federal Police Argentina), just like as the arson attack at the Volkswagen dealer Sunday 9/12 at 3:30 at the 6700 block of San Martín Ave., it was a gesture of liberation for all beings in this world who suffer oppression and exploitation of the system that dominates us.

We wish in the month of December to shit upon the hypocritical and fascist parties of all the shit Christians who will be on the look out so the most important things they have does not escape their hands.

We will do everything we can to make their cars, banks, police stations, embassies and themselves reachable by our fire.

We encourage other FAI cells of this region to participate in the offensive against the state and capital in the way that they think, anarchist direct action must be applied.

The blows that different sectors of Power give to our companions will not contain subversive practices that extend into the hearts of revolutionaries.

Health and anarchy for all who struggle especially the imprisoned comrades in Greece, Italy, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Indonesia, Mexico, Chile and Bolivia.
