I'm gonna sound like a pessimist here & say the luckiest are the ones successful enough to move the hell out of this police state country.

 

How many here even bothered to vote? People have no idea the ramifications this will have for the future of this country. Even if Trump would croak the following day, the damage is already done. It's a Pandora's box of sorts where there is no undo. Having a criminal con man be selected for the most powerful position in the world just opens the door for future evil-doers to seek power openly and brazenly by whatever means they please. The facade of the past is no more. We used to label other presidents as racists and fascists and creeps and crooks but this time it is no longer rhetoric.

You have billionaires owning select media, foreign adversary governments, corrupt politicians and judiciaries in state and local levels, along with street-level supporters who were willing to go to prison fighting to get their leader in power. And they succeeded. The worst part is the media, the fourth estate of democracy, just rolled over and capitulated. Cheated or not, they now know the playbook to grab power - or worse, they never cede power. This will have dire consequences. We were already on a trajectory to becoming similar to a "third world country" now it just hastens the process.

I tried to tell people. They said it was just voting for a lesser evil. They said both sides are all the same. They said voting doesn't matter. If voting didn't matter, then why do they try so hard to take away your vote?

Rioters were granted pardons for trying to keep Trump in power when he lost reelection. Some would argue that Trump set a legal precedent for legalizing coups & there is an expression that turnabout is fair play. Perhaps it's time to take a page from Trump's playbook...

 

1. Start by staying informed, practice heavy media literacy
2. Pivot your internet usage to the "fediverse" and other decentralized services
3. Unfuck yourself; deal with your shit, get your head as right as you can, let go of whatever dependencies you can like drinking and social media, fine tune your brain so that you can anticipate and make the best use of opportunities; learn your heart well so that it doesn't lead you astray, learn it well so you can tune in to the world and move when you need to move
4. Reconnect with everyone you've fallen out with after making sure they're not part of, it but be careful
5. Mutual aid is a real thing and can become an alternative infrastructure wherever you are
6. Don't forget that people who share your values aren't always punks, some of them are tired old fucks like myself
7. Time to start working out and eating healthy
8. Time to learn a skill or skills for conflict; this isn't just fighting but also: communication, organization, medical care, vehicle repair, cryptography, information security, logistics, engineering, and so on
9. Learn the layout of the place you live; who lives where and if they are dangerous, learn the exits in and out of your town in case of martial law or similar lockdowns, learn how to navigate it efficiently and what you can make use of
10. Learn to be bland and uninteresting, learn to blend in because it's a survival skill now

You make a lot of good points but I don't believe we should become bland and uninteresting - I'm not from America but I think for the most part keep being who you are; keep being yourself. Don't let the bastard dictator turn America into a North Korea! (sorry to North Koreans - no offense intended)

 

I mean obviously it makes sense in certain situations and activities not to draw attention to yourself.
And like you said, some groups are particularly vulnerable now under the Trump regime and of course if you're feeling threatened then you should probably try to mitigate that where possible. That probably also depends on where you live in the US (or anywhere else in the world for that matter), what events you're going to, etc. I guess that's something everyone has to decide for themselves.
