    "1-2-3-4!
    Hey, hey!
    Ooh!
    the kingdom is ransacked
    the jewels all taken back
    and the chopper descends
    they're hidden in the back
    with a message on a half-baked tape
    with the spool going round
saying im back here in this place
    and i could cry
and there's smoke you could click on

What are we gonna do now?
Taking off his turban, they said, is this man a Jew?
    ’Cos working for the clampdown
They put up a poster saying we earn more than you!
When we're working for the clampdown
We will teach our twisted speech
    To the young believers
We will train our blue-eyed men
    To be young believers

The judge said five to ten but I say double that again
I'm not working for the clampdown
No man born with a living soul
Can be working for the clampdown
Kick over the wall 'cause government's to fall
    How can you refuse it?
Let fury have the hour, anger can be power
D'you know that you can use it?

The voices in your head are calling
Stop wasting your time, there's nothing coming
Only a fool would think someone could save you
The men at the factory are old and cunning
You don't owe nothing, so boy get runnin'
It's the best years of your life they want to steal

But, you grow up and you calm down and
    You're working for the clampdown
You start wearing the blue and brown and
    You're working for the clampdown
So you got someone to boss around
It makes you feel big now
    You drift until you brutalize
You made your first kill now

In these days of evil presidentes
    Working for the clampdown
But lately one or two has fully paid their due
    For working for the clampdown
    Ha! Gitalong! Gitalong!
    Working for the clampdown
    Ha! Gitalong! Gitalong!
    Working for the clampdown

Yeah I’m working hard in Harrisburg
    Working hard in Petersburg
    Working for the clampdown
    Working for the clampdown
    Ha! Gitalong! Gitalong
    Begging to be melted down
    Gitalong, gitalong
    Work
    Work
And I give away no secrets – ha!
    Work
    More work
    Work
    Work"

We could do this all day.

Although i hate anti-flag, their song "Summer Squatters Go Home" or something like that is pretty good lyrically because there are many squatters like that today, with their trust funds and all.

Sorry, I am going to be the one to say it....

Behind Enemy Lines/Aus Rotten lyrics> The clash's lyrics.

I respect the clash, and enjoy thier music, but in all seriousness Dave Trengas lyrics are yet to be matched or topped.

He somehow surpassed Colin Jerwood of CONFLICT, who also, have way better lyrics than the Clash, and are beyond a well known and active band politically, shit, they are the single handed force behind most of the UK anarcho-punk movement in the early 80s.

We can in fact go at this all day, but your popstar bands and highschool teeny bopper punky chips ahoy oi oi oi lyrics do nothing for me.

What has any band you have mentioned so far done politically, or to actually forward any sort of cause/organization, that is on par with anything CONFLICT has done?

End of discussion, I pulled the ace in the hole out.

The other problem with the clash is that they somewhat encompassed a sort of working class/working mans struggle, which in turn I find completely ridiculous and hindering.
Plus they signed to CBS, so.....same for the sex pistols a.k.a, the PRE FAB 4.
    Not punk, at all.
Marketing scam made to sell clothing.
    Not punk, at all.

Iskra - My Country 'tis Of Thy People You're Dying :
Now that your eyes have finally opened
are you wondering how they must feel?
those who you’ve called colorful, noble and proud
in your school propaganda books and spoken aloud
you never learned how they were starved in their splendor
you asked for my comment, here I will render

now that the long-houses breed superstition
you force us to send our children away
to schools where they’re taught to despise their traditions
you forbid them their languages, then further you say

    that American history really began
When Europe set sail, then stress
that the nation of leeches that conquered this land
are the ones more civilized than all of the rest

and yet where in your history books is the tale
of the genocide basic to this country’s birth
of the preachers who lied, how the bill of rights failed
how a nation of patriots returned to their earth?

hear how the bargain was made for the west:
children dying of exposure in zero degrees
blankets for your land, so the treaties attest
blankets for land is a bargain indeed

and yet a few of the conquered have somehow survived
their blood runs the redder though genes have paled
from the Grand Canyon’s caverns to craven sad hills
the wounded, the losers, the robbed sing their tale

the past it just crumbled, the future just threatens
our life blood shut up in your chemical tanks
and now here you come, bill of sale in your hands
and surprise in your eyes that we’re lacking in thanks

for the blessings of civilization you’ve brought us
the lessons you’ve taught us,the ruins that you’ve wrought us --
see what our trust in America’s brought us

my country ‘tis of thy people you’re dying

the pride of the sires receives charity
we’re harmless and safe behind their laws
my life’s to be known as your “heritage”
even the graves have been robbed
our own chosen way is a novelty
    hands on our hearts
    we salute your victory
choke on your blue, white and scarlet hypocrisy
blind, ignorant nations is all that we see

    that the eagles of war
    whose wings lent you glory
    they were never no more
    than carrion crows
they pushed the wrens from their nests
    and stole their eggs
a historical whitewash-- re-writing their story

the mockingbird sings it, it’s all that he knows
“what can I do?” say a powerless few
with a lump in your throat and a tear in your eye
    their destruction is profiting you
    their poverty’s profiting you. "

The Western Empire continues its ongoing holocaust
Military massacres and economics fused into deathlock
Enforcing a “free market” that supports the multinationals
Globalization: a race to ensnare the world’s resources

    Using an undefined “terrorist” threat
To justify oppressive law and policy
This is the United Snakes new Cold War
Creating a climate of tension and anxiety

    Sovereign nations forced into lockstep
Potential targets for economic structural adjustment
This is how the US threatens Canada and Mexico
As we near the final stages of total assimilation

A Canada-US economic strategy they call “Deep Integration”
The brainchild of that scum who brought Free Trade to this nation
These agents of exploitation advocate a vast rage of new measures
None of which serve the common people, only wealthy investors

The “Big Idea” a “Strategic Bargain”
    Promising Canada “economic security”
In trade for Ballistic Missile Defense
    And “Canadian Homeland Security”

The final deathblow for Canada, a pathetic puppet nation
Will we be prepared to fight extensive US exploitation?
A massive loss of civil rights and whatever’s left of our “sovereignty”
They'll take our liberty, our lives, our freedom

Ten years of NAFTA and fifteen of the bilateral FTA
Our puppet politicians have sold us all away
Starting with Mulroney and his cronies two decades ago
A money grab for the rich in exchange for US control
The beginning of the end for any progressive programs
The green light for the right and their exploitive institutions

Enhancing capital mobility by hamstringing governments
A necessary step in the transfer of power from workers to management
A transfer of power from public to market; from wages to profit
Under the guise of a “war on the deficit;” a negative social adjustment

Cuts to unemployment insurance, tax breaks for upper income groups
Ensures a rise in poverty, homelessness, prostitution, violent crime and police abuse
Health insurance, hospitals and prisons: all slated for privatization
Sold by the capitalists of this nation to US corporations

The undermining of progressive policies within society
A typical capitalist plan, the usual tactics and strategies
Canada is now for grabs, big business will define our reality
They’ll destroy the environment and have us all live in misery

We’re not patriotic; we’ll spit on the graves of all states
Such issues concern the environment we depend upon anda decent way of life
Under “continentalist” rule we’ll be servants of the Right
Diverse tactics and knowledge are necessary in order to win this fight

I never said anti-flag as a whole is good lyrically, just the one aformentioned song, i dont care how many songs you use as an example, a lot of what is said in the song you used, have been done by other bands as well. Different lyrics, same message.

I only used that as an example because too many kids that i see think their so fucking cool that they can go hop a train even though they live in a comfortable suburban home with thier parents and use their moneys to travel.

    "Summer Squatter Go Home"

    Hey, we're rolling, hey..
    Go home, go home
    Squatter go home
    Go home, go home
    Squatter go home
I think I hear your Mommy callin'
    On your cellular phone
She said your dad wants his car back
    So you'd better come home
    Squatter go home
    Squatter go home
    Squatter go home
    Squatter go home
    Go home, go home
    Squatter go home
    Go home, go home
    Squatter go home
You got no money for the punk rock show
It's delagated for a beer and a ho
    Spitting, pissing, cumming, and shitting
    So you have cool clothes
    Squatter go home
    Squatter go home
    Squatter go home
    Squatter go home
I see you sitting on the boulevard with your tired and pissed off stare
Tellin' everyone your hard luck story, and what landed you here
You think of mommy and daddy out in their safe suburban home
And you know that's where you're gonna be when you start to feel the cold
    I'm saying poser go home
    Poser squatter go home
    Summer squatter go home
    Poser squatter go home
    Squatter go home
    Squatter go home
    Squatter go home
    Squatter go home
    Squatter go home
    Squatter go home
    Summer squatter go home

this, to me, i dont give a fuck how it sounds to you, is exactly how a lot of douchebag train hoppers are around here.

P.S. Iskra is a good band

And, Iskra is good, but Black Krondstat will forever reign supreme over them.

None of what you've posted rivals Joe Strummer, or Greg Graffin, who's almost as good.

    You've got to be joking...

Calling Anti-Flag pop stars is completely disingenuous. For one thing they don't sell enough records, and they're on an indie label.... It's pointless.

Well in the case of the Clash I'd say....they paved the way for Conflict. Musically, artistically, and politically. Conflict and Crass are brimming with self-righteous snobbery, but the truth is they essentially followed the Clash's model. They owe them everything. AND, thus, the Pistols as well, because if uit wasn't for the Pistols Strummer would've stayed in the 101er's.

Because back then there WEREN’T any indie punk labels. That happened later. There was no alternative. You also deliberately don’t mention or aren’t smart enough to know the Clash kept themselves in debt to the record company for most of their career to keep the record costs down. Another thing you don’t seem to comprehend is that you can sign to a major without “selling out.” The Clash are an excellent example.

The Pistols were dropped or dismissed by every major label until Virgin at the very end, which was then just starting out. They didn’t make ANY money until after the band broke up, after the lawsuit Lydon filed against McLaren because he’d stolen nine tenths of what little they did make.

I don’t think you know what punk is.

Ok, you can repeat a lie as many times as you want, but that doesn’t make it true. Vivienne Westwood DID NOT create the look for the band. John Lydon was wearing tattered safety-pinned clothes and dyed his hair green BEFORE HE EVEN JOINED THE BAND. Seriously, I can recommend some literature, and then we could pick this up when you have some idea what you’re talking about. The extremely short version is Steve Jones and Paul Cook formed their own band with a guy named Wally Nightingale, they were looking for a manager and they knew Malcolm, who owned a shop that sold Teddy Boy clothes, and who had some experience having driven the final nail into the New York Dolls’ career. Wally got kicked out, Malcolm suggested to Steve that he really didn’t have what it took to be a frontman, they knew Glen who worked the counter in the store, and John was a regular customer. It happened totally organically. Malcolm likes to present himself as a brilliant svengali, but he probably did the band more harm than good in the long run. Seriously, read Savage’s book, and then you won’t say such stupid things.

I am not dismissing the Clash, but I will dismiss the pistols until the day I die.

The only thing the clash had going for them was they were good musicians, the pistols on the other hand, not so much.

Argue the fact that Sid wasnt only in the band for the image.

And that bullshit reuinion tour they did a few years ago, with 60-100$ tickets?

    Yea, REAL PUNK.
    Not at fucking all.

Im done discussing this any further with NGNM85.

Fuck Bad religion too by the way, Epitaph records and thier censoring bullshit.

Ok, to lay this rotting corpse to rest....

Your a sellout and a popstar lameo, if you headline and play THE WARPED TOUR supporting major corporations and the like.

The clash didnt pave the way for Conflict, CRASS DID.
As well as the fact that Crass was around the exact same time that the clash and the piss-tools were, Look at when thier first demo was recorded, Thats right. 1977.
    And Conflict, in 1798.

To my knowledge, they were the first bands to really bring the "anarchist" movement to the forefront.

Denying that, is foolhardy and ignorant.

Stick to your poppy uplifting pretty boy green day trash, some of us would at least like to talk about good music on here.

They can, I dont care about that part of it, its a matter of legitemacy in thier ideals.

One band stays true to the anarcho ideals, the other is only in it for the money and the image.

I can agree that a band like Behind Enemy Lines would be a bit more true to there anarchist ideals.
But to say that Anti-Flag are in it for the money and image is a bit of an exaggeration. I think they have lost there way but I don't think they've lost there ideals.
