I still cannot believe they gave the prize to the EU. Not that I care about such things, you know, the spectacle and all that, but giving the Nobel Peace Prize to the European capitalists' alliance, with everything that entails, is veyr daring indeed... :lmao:

I personally do not see how they are a bad band. They have like 98% political songs and have been doing political songs since the beginning. They go to protests and are very active. You can just go to youtube and see Justin Sane singing at Occupy Wall Street. Anti-Flag was even playing here in Detroit during Occupy. I went over to Detroit to check things out and they were playing at some old Movie Theater or something for $10. Granted, you had to get the tickets offline (Whether that was their choice or the venues I'll never know). But hell thats a good deal.

If some of the issues are them signing to Major Labels, if they are what they say they are, I believe it is to spread the message. "Mainstream" label means more "non-thinkers" possibly getting into your music and seeing there needs to be change. The more the merrier. And they have only been with labels for 2 records each. They keep jumping around. Why do that. I imagine it is quite a hassle. If they really soldout they would have stayed with ONE, and just keep pocketing all the money.

(Which i've seen someone say they do, just remember that is their JOB. Music, its their job, they dont sit around the rest of the day and work at McDonald's. I imagine their are quite a few people on this site that have standard jobs. I'm by no means trying to be offensive to anyone if any of this is, but you need money in this pathetic world to live sadly. I hope one day we can eradicate the idea of currency. Till then we have to deal with it sadly. Everyone has to pay bills and yadda, yadda, yadda.) (Also im not trying to say this means they can pocket all the money they want, I don't know how much they use, that's their business)

If another thing is the Warped tour and Mainstream touring, its again probably like my previous paragraph. I wouldn't mind being on a more "mainstream" tour once in a while. I'd get to be spreading the message to a bunch a people. Plus they still play a BUNCH of cheap venues around with bunches of local bands. They had one in Howell, MI. I was busy and couldnt go, but someone i knew said it was cheap and was a great show.

They are also big members in Amnesty International (Which they've been donating money to for years), the non-profit Democracy Now!, and helped Greenpeace to convince world leaders to attend the climate conference.

Here just look at wiki, in the Activism area.
    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-Flag

Selling out means you lose your morales. I fail to see how their activism and constant political song writing shows that they sold out. Just my opinion, not trying to start an old argument, just want to put in my 2 cents. If anything is offensive i apologize, i will probably see how people respond to my post, but i am probably done with this post. I am just bored with this issue and dont want to respond anymore.

For me...has nothing to do with signing to a major label...or.playing warped....his actions completely discount every positive thing that band did...

True, I threw all my Anti-Flag CDs in the bin when I heard that. It was such a betrayal to everything they claimed to stand for. I can't even just enjoy the music for what it is, knowing that he was just using it to hide his behaviour.

I think I have to get rid of my albums with them as well. It's the same as with The Casualties and Marilyn Manson. I thought "well, some of these albums were important to me when I was fourteen and for purely nostalgic reasons I'll keep the best ones, I don't need to show anybody I've got them and I have no shirts with them or otherwise promoting them in any way" and that that would be enough, but it turns out I can't listen to the albums anymore, not even at home in private. It just feels hollow and wrong.

I guess that depends on how much money they actually get and then what they do with the money.
