So there's a zoo located in Three Hills, Alberta, Canada ( few hours south of where i live)
It's a privately owned "zoo" which is currently allowed to operate every year while treating its animals like complete shit. It has numerous instances of disregard for the care of its animals and health/safety violations affecting human visitors. A few examples include:

    >Animals (Tigers, Monkeys, Turtles, and more) are left/ignored in cages that are way to small with no food and little or no water.

    >Many animals die and when they do, are left in the cage with the others or are thrown somewhere in plain view. Other carcasses are left for animals to "feed on" apparently.

    >The majority of the animals are left outside all winter with rickety "half"shacks for shelter with no heat and their drinking water frozen solid. Winter temperatures got down to -35 degrees celcius this year.

    >Wounded animals have been seen by visitors and are unattended to (and owner does not care when informed!).

Every year the dumb canadian government continues to renew GuZoo's operating license while being AWARE that this is going on!

Here's a more informative site on this situation:http://www.theguzoo.co.nr/

And here's a link to a petition to close Guzoo: http://www.petitiononline.com/guzoo/petition.html

The petition is the non-violent or "from a distance" way of helping (as I don't know anyone on here that lives in this area). I'll try and upload some images to this thread later.
If you decide to sign: thanks for the help!

Petitions are useless but it sounds like a disgusting story about that zoo...

Although I'm against zoo's , i must say that in my town there's one and animals are treated very good ( as far as I remember, I was there before...2? years and it was ok). Like ungovernable said petitions are usless, direct action is what you need. But sure, you can always try

I hate the idea of animals being captured and living in cages but unfortunately due to poaching and deforestation it is the only place some of these animals have any chance of life. I have heard nothing of that guZOO but if the reports are true they should be dealt with appropriately.

    Ah, forgot I posted this!
I agree zoo's are a stupid idea in my opinion as well, but I don't think they're gonna be gone anytime soon. Thus, they should at least be taking care of the animals held captive.

If anyone's interseted, the update for this situation is that the Alberta "Government" gave this "zoo" a limited 60 day license renewal in order to clean up its act due to the amount of letters/complaints they recieved about it.

Being that this zoo has been open for 20 yrs and continues to get worse every year, I sadly don't forsee much coming of this. The owner has been quoted in interviews saying he will sell his tigers/lions to taxidermists if he has to close it down. What a shithead!
As you all know, governments don't listen to the people, and the Alberta government is especially bad :@

and Ungov, your ad in the signiture made me laugh being in this thread haha.
