Today Enrique Peña Nieto member of the authoritarian PRI party that ruled under a 71 year single party dictatorship took office as president of Mexico. Thousands filled the streets in Mexico City and other large cities to protest. Protesters where met by the federal police who soon started wielding teargas beating protesters, at least one protester is known dead from the clash.

Most working class Mexicans have machetes. I like the first picture. Agist of me, I know, but I think people with white or gray hair look good. Somebody on Twitter says at least four cops have been killed and he gave a shout-out to his homies in Guadalajara. With little Spanish and no access to mass media (by choice) I hope folks will keep posting here. Hasta la victoria!

Why are so many people in Mexico and the United States addicted to rigged elections?

In Italy's recent election there was a decline in voter turnout from 67% the previous election, to 47% this year, a drop of only 20%, yet instead of saying that voters had become apathetic, both the New York Times and the Washington Post ran articles about how Italians had lost faith in their government, and international lenders lowered the Italian government's credit rating. I remember when the EZLN called for election boycotts, but instead millions of Mexicans voted and then over a million gathered to protest the results. The protests accomplished nothing--you can't take back your vote. If you don't like the government, you don't vote in its elections. What could be simpler? Easy, legal, nonviolent, and the only ones who get hurt are the corporations that finance the rigged elections.

Both Mexico and the US have long histories of rigged elections. But the people never learn. If you vote in corrupt elections, you get corrupt governments. Every time.

But that attack on the PRI building is pretty gutsy. Will definitely be watching how the actions pan out.

    !Libertad a lxs presxs politicxs!
No queremos bajar a un presidente para subir a otro
    Organízate
!Ni PRI, ni PAN, ni PRD el pueblo unido contra el poder!

    Sin más por el momento.
    BNM (Bloque Negro México)

    (A)------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->

Mexico Black Bloc Communiqué on the events of December 1.

Mexico DF on December 2, 2012

    To the general public.

    comrades:

For security reasons, given the events of last December 1, 2012, the official website of Black Bloc Mexico, has been taken down since it leaked information of the members of the group, so that as members of the Black Bloc Mexico, we renounce the call-outs made by this web page, that encourage mindless violence. We are letting everybody know that the current page that is circulating in the network with the name of the group, is false.

Black Bloc Mexico is an anarchist collective that aims to disseminate tactical marches, ensuring the safety of all contingencies in demonstrations and promoting equality and anonymity that should be given. We totally reject the irrational use of violence, believing that self-defense is not violence. This false webpage, incites meaningless violence without taking into account the relevant security.

This does not mean that we are fearful or anything like that, we just consider it prudent that for security reasons we must terminate the page.

Black Bloc Mexico is in favor of self-defense.

We also clarify that the "destruction" of yesterday was done by the people as a natural response to the violence caused by the state for so many years.

    ! Freedom to Political Prisoners!
We do not want to depose the president to give rise to another one
    Get Organized
! Nor PRI nor PAN, nor PRD, the people united against their power!

    That is all for now.
    BNM (Block Black Mexico)

    Yes! That's evolution!

I remember back when it was, !Ni PRI, ni PAN, ni PRD, los obreros al poder!

That sounded revolutionary, but somewhat Marxist and statist.

The change from workers taking power to a united people fighting the power is pure anarchist.

!Que viva el Anarquismo en Mexico!

I've been to a Zapatista collective were there is space for workers to organize themselves, and all sorts of other activities happen and in one of the back rooms a friend pointed out a book shelf with Marxist, Leninists and other communist literature from like 20 years ago, some of those Marxist Leninists changed to zapatismo... I never asked him for any personal stories as to why?...or how many changed?...or if the center was a marxist leninist center before?...i will the next time i see him :ecouteurs:
