Active Zines

I don't know much about online sources, but local (leftist) political events often have zines in my experience. (especially solidary/anarchist organisations)

Edit: Actually for online sources you could check anarchist online shops? Like schwarzesocke or blackmosquito in germany. But they mostly have political ones as far as i know

There was a cool zine made by @TreyofToday from Murder & Mayhem Records (he used to be active on this forum too. I wonder what happened to him?). You can get printed copies or in PDF form. Here's a link:

sometimes posts old digitized PDF copies of Maximum Rock 'n' Roll on his blog. Still worth checking out.

There's also Papercore, a DIY international punk zine: Papercore – International DIY punk zine
I think they have physical copies.

 

SPIKE!!!! You warm my heart by missing me. Long story short, I moved last year. I am barely on the grid in the Appalachian mountains of North Carolina. I've been going to Western Carolina University and have been busy. There's no punk scene out here, besides me. There's also no garbage pick up. The cabin I live in doesn't even have central a/c or heat. I've been gathering firewood, fishing, gardening, and other shit. It has been a bit of culture shock. I have been writing but have not done anything with the zine in over a year; I'm just too busy. I would also like to be paid for my writing, but so far, I have nothing but rejection letters. Anyway, I'm alive. The garden is dying with the season change, and i must forage enough wood to survive the winter. I am on the grid, but barely, I miss Raleigh; I miss any city. I have been having money and car problems that cause a lot of stress. I have been eating trout and homegrown fruits and vegetables. Soon I'll be eating deer and maybe bear. I aways thought that the hillbilly stereotype was fake, but after living here for a year, I can assure you that there are still hillbillies running moonshine, driving tractors on the highway, nd living off the land. If it wasn't for their racism and ignorance, they'd be pretty cool. We DIY a lot out here. When I have time (and motivation), I will have to write out my thoughts. Honestly, I'm punk as fuck, and the disadvantage to be so fuckin' punk is that I'm suffering from apathy a bit. I need to get out, go to a show, or just hangout. Hopefully my luck will change and I can get to a show soon. I'm over an hour from Asheville, but driving these mountain passes is tough, especially with a fucked up car. Anyway, tske it sleazy, and I am glad that I'm thought of; it means a lot.

Yeah, I believe there still be hillbillies about in them there mountains. It's a tough but rewarding life if you can master it (or so I've been told) haha. Yeah, you could write a book about your experiences: "Punk Rocker Turned Wildman" or something lol.

Wait, maybe I misunderstood. I seem to remember reading something about you being a teacher. But the way you said it sounded like you're going there to study.... so which is it?

 

I'm studying English and Spanish. I was a substitute teacher I need to finish my degree. It is so strange being 48 and in college. It is nothing like the 80's movie, BACK TO SCHOOL. My classmates are way too shy. My professors adore me though. What scares me is that my classmates are the artists and writers of the future, but they have no backbones.

As far as moonshine goes, I have some crazy stories about it. Dis you know that they use a raccoon's penis in the process? When I'm not at school, I'm surrounded by MAGA hillbillies. I'm losing my fucking mind.

Si, hablo espanol y ingles tambien. Por eso, yo tengo calificicones buenos. You don't go to college to learn things; you go to get paperwork that proves that you learned it. Maybe I will take a course in Cherokee language; I don't know that.

Don't get me started on college girls; I don't understand generation z at all. The female gender is so far advanced of the males; that's nothing new. BUT, the males all seem uninterested. I'm twice their age; I'm not interested, but I don't know why no one else is.
