It is a good chuckle, but most people that aren't Vegan and put those names of bands on their leather jacket know what they're doing. For instance, i have CONFLICT panted on my leather jacket, i really don't care if it contradicts the bands views for I am not vegan. see what i'm getting at?
    anyways heres my vest:

    Its a shitty picture...
this was the first vest I made
No Future denim jacket, cut off the arms, Monster Squad and LCB patches
and a couple pins on the front (G.B.H. & Discharge)
Im probably gonna make it even more street punk with this Blanks 77 patch i have

I need to take pics of my vest...I stenciled the back of it with acryllic pink spray paint...looks ok but I had to go over the "QUEERS BASH BACK !" bit with a black texta cos I held the can too close to the denim. Then above that at the back is a little Bear Pride flag patch.

The front has a "Union Solidarity" patch [used to be a very effective direct action group now defunct]. I remember a mate of mine found a Poland soccer top and sliced the emblem off it with the crowned eagle so I sewed that on (I'm Polish on one side of the family).
Then there are the badges some are bands some are not: Crass, DK, pink triangle, skull n crossbones, SLUT (was earned haha), Partyline, Bracode, Liquor Snatch M.C.H.D., spanner and cogs, IWW, Ska, 8-ball, No War But Class War, VIXEN (Victoria Sex Industry Network; activist group), "on your mark, get set...now FUCK OFF!", enamel red AIDS ribbon, enamel Eureka flag (its a Trade Unionist thing in Australia...long story)...I have about 75+ badges and buttons at home in a coffee mug on a shelf near my stereo...

Oh I do have a leather jacket but I only apply leather care stuff to it like I do with my other leather gear...been on that scene since I came out a few years ago and I like to look after my leathers. Boots too...

So I'm in quite the sticky pickle.. I have a leather jacket (Nothing but a few pins on it, and an op ivy back patch I'll be putting on soon, as well as a 'Stop The Violence' police brutality patch.) I bought it before I started listening to more political music, and I feel like a huge hypocrit listening to Crass wearing a dead cow :p I want to add a crass patch, but I also don't want to waste my leather to buy a denim vest. Just throwing it away doesn't seem very ecologically sound at all :p And as far as I'm concerned, the leather industry will be going for as long as the meat industry is so I'm just trying to get the most use out of that poor cow's death.

    Forgivable?

you could always try to trade it for a denim one or try a Goodwill type thrift store (usually pretty cheap) for a denim replacement. you are correct to assume that just tossing the leather out is pretty wasteful, you could always hand it over to someone less fortunate who needs a jacket this winter if you manage to get a hold of a cheap replacement.

some words, that are not my own, on the leather industry for those who are interested:
"Contrary to popular belief, leather is NOT a by-product of the meat industry. While the hides of beef cattle are indeed used for leather, the leather industry is worth millions every year. If you buy leather, you are contributing to the suffering of innocent non-human animals.
The toxic chemicals used during and released after the tanning process cause a staggering amount of damage to the environment, and to the people involved. The chemicals used to tan leather have been proven to be carcinogenic-this causes chronic health problems among tanners. These chemicals are then released, untreated, into streams and rivers, wreaking havoc on wildlife and poisoning drinking water.
Leather causes just as much suffering as meat, and it's unacceptable to continue wearing it in an age where countless alternatives exist."

    just food for thought.

PM me if you are a size Med Levi's black denim jacket, i have one that was given to me (it is untouched and unneeded) and i would be willing to part with it for the price of shipping and a receipt from a thrift store/donation center for the leather.

off topic tip for 'free' clothes...check out your local laundry mat dumpsters, you would be surprised at how often people leave their stuff in the washer and short-sighted management just tosses it out back (often bagged and already washed! lol) ;)

;) you don't HAVE to be vegan to not support the leather industry. the human and environmental impact of processing leather is also pretty tragic.

hey listening to it doesn't mean you gotta agree with all of it, if you truly believe in it then i can see it being hypocritical, but your not so don't sweat it.

Turns out i had a acid-washed denim jacket that fits me beautifully hanging up in my closet that belonged to my father. I desleeved it and put 2 patches on it as well as an Adicts reference on the top-right shoulder. It looks alright i suppose. I've got a "Stop the Violence" police brutality patch on the left shoulder, and an Operation Ivy back patch, both of which are safety pinned. I'm going to sew the stop the violence patch tonight, as i would be happy with that being permanent. I'm going to replace the Operation Ivy patch with a Conflict patch soon, which i'll also sew on. I'll try and get a picture of what i have done up soon. Any tips one studding it? (Technique, type of stud, ect..)
