Wikileaks Unveils SMS Messages Sent on 9/11 [500,000 Sept. 11, 2001 Text Messages Made Public]

Do you feel thankful today? And I am not just asking those of you that are celebrating Thanksgiving with your families today but everyone reading these lines. You should feel thankful for a bunch of things, and most importantly for being alive and well.

There are many people that have given their life on September 11, 2001, and while we won’t start talking about the ramifications of the 9/11 attacks here on TFTS we will take a look at it from the tech point of view. Coincidentally we’re talking about those horrid attacks on Thanksgiving as Wikileaks has just released half a million SMS text messages sent via pagers nationwide on September 11, 2001.

Beside personal messages you’ll also find intercepted texts sent from the Pentagon, NYPD and other government agencies. Is it moral to leak such messages? Does it do us any good? Will they bring closure to some people or will they open forgotten wounds?

The index of messages starts at 3:00 AM, Sept. 11, 2001 and ends on the same hour the next day. According to Wikileaks “the world has a chance to objectively see how the tragedy progressed.”

The number of sent messages is simply astonishing considering that back then, in 2001, cell phones were not as popular as they are now. In fact, cell phones were not capable of the performances they deliver today. There were no MMS, no video calls, no touchscreen smartphones, no cameras, no GPS support, no apps!

The complete SMS list is available by following the read link below. They are presented in chronological order so you can really follow what happened that day. You’ll find plenty of messages that will show you what people went through during those hours, like the one below:

Terrorist attack on the world trade towers. One plane crashed into each building. They’re saying the planes were hijacked. Footage is scary. We saw the second attack, live. Idella (2001-09-11 09:20:20)

It’s like a written transcript of a day that will never be forgotten. So what do you say? What are you thankful for today?

The only question that come to my mind is: HOW?

This is the obvious proof that governments are spying on us and intercepting our conversations and sms, and this begun BEFORE 9/11/01

i wish they had leaked bush, cheney and wolfowitz's private correspondance of that day so we could see the planning and execution of the whole operation unfold.

No surprises there, Much of what the Intelligence Community has been doing in this country since WWII has been Illegal and Anti-Democratic and Increasingly Capitalist/Corporate Based. Republicans are just worse at covering it up, because they feel they shouldn't really have to. Is anybody covering this story in the mainstream bullshit media? Good looking out Ungovernable.........

Yeah, that's true. But they're just as paranoid as you are. They don't want outbreak in their own country. I mean, imagine the people who we have been in war with. Imagine all the regular people fearing for their lives because they don't have a government to protect them from within. Look at Israel...they don't have anyone protecting them from Muslims bombing places. It has been a problem since the Red Scare(1919)....when Anarchists took a peculiar liking to bombs. We're not those kinds of Anarchists; we're a peaceful, civilized organization. So what do we have to be scared of? Nothing, if you ask me...we're just showing others what we want to accomplish. If you're scared of the government spying, then you're hiding something; and it can't be good. Not everyone in this world is close minded to ideas, so we can talk about it in public as I am right now. There's ways to go about this. Maybe the government should have given us consent of it first, but they do it with the intention of protecting their people. The people give this government its power. If people didn't believe in the government, they wouldn't have power. Then it's considered Anarchy. They need us and we need protection. I fucking hate it. :ecouteurs:

i am NOT! Who told you that?!?! :|

I'm in a war? well i guess i am, but not in the way you are alluding to. ;)

speak for yourself. i am as disorganized as i can get....and don't get me started on the topic of "civilized" :lmao:

    :o
WHAT?!?! surely you can't be serious! even completely ignoring the fact that i, we, deserve basic privacy...are you aware of the lengths the people in power will go to squash dissension and opposition to the status quo? that in this day, simple speech can be labeled 'terrorism'? that it's as easy to catch a conspiracy charge as it is to catch a cold? fucking hell, take a look at some recent political prisoners' stories if you doubt this!

i feel the very opposite of protected and i resent the implication that i somehow need the 'protection' of the state! what i need is protection FROM the state. :lmao:

I'm not an ageist but I think that sixsticks666 is still very young and has a lot to learn about what the state stands for and what we as anarchists stand for. There are many anarchist activists that are involved with direct action that the state would love to eliminate...

Alright, well, a shitload of people don't believe in the government.. They still have power :p And I don't understand how the government pissing on our basic human rights is protecting us.. It's just pissing us off. And at this rate, they're going to need protection from us.

Eh.. Let's just blast the weapons industry back to the stone age. We can keep medical technology. :) Hell, with all the funding that would usually go to weapons manufacturing we could probably find a cure already.. Too bad the government thinks that taking lives is more important then saving them :p

I have no regard for human life, and if they got it theyre gonna die anyway.

If you read my post I meant drop an EMP bomb over the planet to end all technology and back to the stone age before its too late.
