Propagandhi, Avail, and Fabulous Disaster in 99 or so. Funny that I went to see Propagandhi and thought Avail kinda sucked. Now Avail is one of my favorite bands. Before that it was a couple shows at the St. Germain legion hall or the few and far between house show. Punk is scarce here in the woods.

My first show was The Hates. I've seen them numerous times since then but still remember that first time well. It was at a bar called Emo's and remember being annoyed that there were TV's on for the drunks at the bar.

Houston. I know there was another Emo's in Austin during the same time. (Or it might have been Dallas.)

I used to co-manage an awesome 100 watt college radio station in Shreveport/Bossier City Louisiana our signal was less than a 4 mile radius but we had the best playlists in the country, so much so that Rice University in Houston copied it for all the years I was there and their transmitter was 50,000 watts. I did a 2 hour radio show every weekday and played the Maximum Rock n Roll radio hour for that week, plus punk, hardcore, post-punk, goth, garage, psyche, etc. I would get notices from Emo's for shows and would announce them on air.. eventually I got tired of Dallas, Houston, and New Orleans getting all the shows so we started booking locally and putting bands live on-air playing in the tiny lobby of KSCL hahaha good times good times

Yup, KTRU was the Rice station. Their Punk show is called the Mutant Hardcore Flower Hour and surprisingly is still on the air. I haven't heard it in years, though. They just do it once a week on Thursday nights into early Friday morning.

That must have been one heck of a show if you did it every weekday. I can only imagine having to listen to that and discovering new bands on a daily basis instead of the slow trickle over the years.

    I really can't remember.

Probably a local metal band (Dark wizard) in one of the village 'pub's'.
First festival was Aardschokdag 1987, Zwolle, Netherlands.
Metallica, Celtic frost, crimson glory, Antrax, Metal church, Laaz rockit.
My ears were ringing for a week!

First 'punk' show was, i think, L.U.L. and, Toby, or something .
I really was impressed by Toby's bass player, playing sliding chords on fretless bass.
Never heard anything after about this band :(

I don't remember the exact bands, so I'll ramble history instead.
My hometown had a small but active punk scene in the mid 2000s. I started going to shows at 15 or 16. My first show was probably at a venue called the Pink Eye that closed down a few years later. A lot of the bands were Oxymoron copycats, and I don't remember many names.
There was one DIY venue called the Monolith that was run by Anarchists, had a large zine library. That's where the political and weird bands played. I was still cutting my teeth when it was in its death throes, but I have fond memories of the shows there. The guy that ran the place gave me the zine library in return for helping him move stuff out.
Years later, through our related circle of friends, I housed him up while he was traveling. Took a full day before we realized the connection. I've since given away most of the zines, but I hold on to a few favorites.

Nowadays my home town is down to one great venue, a punk house that puts on touring crust bands for free every two weeks. Their shows are a true gem in a wasteland.

It was some big stadium rock band, I can't think of the name. All I remember is the singer at one point playing a tin whistle or flute & thinking to myself, "this is fucking boring & horrible" Not long after I saw The Ramones & loved them.

1st big show - soundgarden , 1996 in singapore . was around 16...told my mum n dad it was a academical thingy , even made a mock approval letter for mum to sign.

though give thanks to my lord minorthreat , that i am malaysian . uhuh the SG dollar pulls all there.. agents n all! hence bands more often drop by singapore than Kuala Lumpur.

BUT , that has its magic moments - check it- we watched FUGAZI same year 1996 in a small auditarium setting! Priceless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

at times high quality / fresh bands choose malaysia. Yay! singapore is ok these days.Good music scene for a soulless nation. jajajajaja

    * just watched Agnostic Front this may in SG !!!
