I just recently got into it, I like 7" more than anything

    EP:
    A Global Threat- Earache/Pass the time 7"
A Global Threat- In The Red 7"
Filth - Live the Chaos 7" (Puke green Vinyl)
Dead Kennedys- Nazi Punk Fuck Off 7"
Solid EP - Citizen Fish, MDC, Embrace the kill, Mouth Sewn Shut 7"
    Imperial Leather - Antibodies 7"
Remission - Absolute Power 7" (White Vinyl)
Anti-Cimex - Fucked in Finland 7" (my favorite on Blue vinyl, apparently its pretty rare)

    LP:
Oi Polloi - Total Resistance to the Fucking System 12"
Quiet Riot - Metal Health 12" (HAHA doesn't even work anymore)

As for my want list... too many for me to name here

I guess I'm a record collector by default, as it was the only choice we had when I was young :D

I still have a bit of a vinyl fetish. If I've got the choice between CD or vinyl, I'll pick the big waste of natural and financial resources that's easily damaged over the CD every time. Even more so if it's a limited edition / 180g / coloured wax / fancy cover etc. release!

Sometimes I don't always end up with the 'best' quality version of a release by doing this - the skill of mastering for vinyl isn't always as strong in this digital age. That's what free downloads are for  But, if the engineer knows what they're doing, I find it much more pleasurable to play a slab of vinyl, from handling it to cueing it up to reading the sleeve / liner notes.

One piece of advice - spend as much as you possibly can on your turntable if you're serious about developing a bad habit. When I was young I never had the cash for anything other than a real basic system and, to be fair, didn't care as much about sound quality as long as I had the noise. Much of my older vinyl has suffered as a result (that, and my lifestyele back then). Once I'd developed a respect for vinyl and had the means, I saved up and bought my first 'proper' deck (which is still going strong). It's taken the experience to a whole new level.

Actually, I'll offer you a second piece of advice - give it up before you become an addict and end up with much less space and no money :D

Its actually pretty "un-green" when it comes to making vinyl, you know, melting it down and all to get there. Now, theres nothing wrong with record collecting, i just dont think it gives you any more of a status than someone who collects stamps. And if you collect records, but you actually use your record player, then its cool. But to just collect records and not even listen to them??(these people exist). Is just stupid.

I love vinyl, but I hate hate hate how rediculously capitalistic prices for rare records have become among punks, last night at a show I brought the subject up and a friend was telling me about 2 test pressings of Minor Threat's first two rare 7" that sold for $4000. Cocytus has stated on this site about a Gism cd selling for $800 and two other vinyl 7" for $1700. This is blatant capitalist behaviour which stands in direct opposition to much of the subject matter contained within the music being sold. I wonder what the bands have to say?
