SOLIDARITY & DONATION TO THE 3 ANARCHIST COMRADES JAILED IN MEXICO. PLEASE SHARE !!

"Sunday January 5 at 10 pm, two groups of people dressed in black attacked with stones and Molotov cocktails the building of the Ministry of Communications and Transport of Mexico City and a Nissan car dealership located nearby, causing damage to the building and several cars.

During the attack against the ministry, the federal police who were watching the building repeatedly fired their guns in the air and against the companions, but fortunately without hurting anyone.

In the same night, Carlos Lopez, a fellow Mexican, as well as Amélie Pelletier and Fallon Rouiller-Poisson, two friends from Canada, were arrested in Mexico City with charges in connection with the attacks.

Since january 5th, the three comrades have been held in detention and have limited contact with anyone, including their lawyer, and Amelie and Fallon have also been visited by the Canadian consulate. Though they were initially accused of property destruction, the three may now face additional charges of sabotage, organized crime, and terrorism. If these charges are brought forward, bail will not be possible and deportation for the two from Canada is highly unlikely. All three would then be held until trial without the possibility of release. The Mexican media now reports that our comrades will be held for an additional 40 days while the government continues its investigation.

These charges come at a time of intense crackdown by the Mexican state on anarchists; from attacks on demonstrations to torture of arrested comrades.

At this moment we need to quickly raise funds to support our comrades. Not only for the legal costs and the potentially large bail amounts, but also to help cover their living expenses while in prison. In Mexico, prisoners have to pay for their own room, food, bed and medical expenses while being detained. Go to clac-montreal.net/en/mx to donate via paypal or for information on how to give via cheque or cash.

In comparison, the anarchist Mario Gonzalez was sentenced on January 10th to 5 years and 9 months in prison for the misdemeanor of “disturbing public peace”. In his judgment, the judge said that the acts of the student did not cause any damage to anything or anyone.

At the time of writing this article, the two Canadian are still detained awaiting trial. On 9 January, a federal judge granted the special measure of “arraigo” that allows Mexican authorities to detain the arrested for another 40 days before charges are brought against them. According to the mandate given by the judge, this detention is intended to give time to the authorities to investigate the crimes of sabotage and organized crime in order to formulate the corresponding charges against them.

The “arraigo” (extended custody) was formalized by the reform of the Criminal Justice (2008), it is granted by a federal judge at the request of a prosecutor when federal charges are brought against the suspects. It gives police the power to detain a person without any charges for a period of 40 days that may be extended for another 40 days.

United Nations groups such as the Committee of Human Rights and the Special Reporter on judicial independence, stated that because of the obligations that Mexico is committed, “arraigo” violates “fundamentals principles such as legality, individual freedom and freedom to travel, the presumption of innocence, the right to honor and reputation, access to justice and the physical and mental integrity of persons”. The United Nation’s Committee against torture describes this measure as permitting “arbitrary detention” and promoting torture (2012 report).

Given our recent financial commitments (see here, here, here and here) our resources are rather limited at the moment, but given the urgency of the situation we have given a hundred dollars in support of jailed comrades in Mexico and we hope to be able to do the same next month. The donation was sent to the CLAC (Convergence of Anti-Capitalist Struggles), which manages the fund to assist the inmates. We also profit of our web visibility to encourage our comrades to go to CLAC’s website to make a donation too. Solidarity is a weapon stronger than borders!"

These scenes are familiar. Mexico, Colombia, Italy, Greece, Brazil... The authorities are getting tougher and tougher against dissidents, and anarchists are getting the worse.

A new letter from one of the anarchist comrades jailed in Mexico
    http://www.sabotagemedia.anarkhia.org/2 ... omination/

A big hug to all comrades!

I was very pleased to learn of the gestures of support from outside to us three anarchist prisoners. We remain firm and strong despite the silly accusations made against us and intimidating comments (here, they tell us that we’ll spend much time in prison) wanting to break our identity. They aren’t successful, because we are strong and have conviction.

Today they brought us to declare, expecting us to declare ourselves innocent or guilty. On this point I want to openly make something clear, personally I do not accept either of the two positions. Guilty? Innocent? That would give legitimacy to the stupid laws of the State, which I do not recognize the authority. After all the State and its laws are just generators and regulators of privileges, injustices, exploitation and domination.

I learned something that turned my stomach, which links us with the 132 movement, #Posmesalto, and others similar. I clarify that do not in any way accept this. I do not recognize any movement of institutionalized hierarchical organization. No way!

I want to spit my hate for the prison system, I don’t know if anyone is really convinced by “reintegration”, ie, that from being imprisoned people are domesticated and go on to lead a quiet life in harmony with people and flowers around them. I’m looking for it and see only one thing KIDNAPPING, if the deprivation of liberty of a person is called kidnapping.

Through prison they want to shut down the will of those who struggle for a new world, and call violent, danger to society, terrorist, whom rebels. The only terrorist is the State, the main generator of violence, who has the monopoly of weapons, torture, and the rape of our natural rights.

It is the system domination who aggress us daily, paying us wages of misery, exploiting the workers and seeing them not as a human being but as a money making machines. It aggresses us when it destroys nature to build shopping malls, It aggresses us with it television programming, trying to mold our thoughts.

AI FERRI CORTI WITH THEIR METHODS OF DOMINATION.

    Carlos López Marin.

5E: End of the arraigo, terrorism case falls – Comrades now detained under charges of damages and attacks on public peace (Mexico)

Yesterday February 17, marked the end of the 40 days of arraigo* decreed by the Attorney General of the Republic against our compañerxs Carlos López, Amelie Pelletier and Fallon Poisson.

During these forty days they tried to put together a case for Terrorism and Organized Crime against them, however, and despite intimidating and inquisitorial methods, they were unable to mount their case, so that at the end of the arraigo our compañerxs were released for lack of evidence. The Local Police of the Federal District has since detained them on charges of damages and attacks to public peace.

Amelie and Fallon are now in the women’s prison Reclusorio Femenil de Santa Martha and were visited by their lawyers, while Carlos called and said he is in Reclusorio Oriente, however it wont be until tomorrow that he can receive visitors.

Since the charges they are facing aren’t for major crimes, it is possible for them to reach bail, although we should remember that Mario González facing the same situation has had bail refused systematically, arguing that he is a danger for society.

Let’s continue solidarity with our sisters and brothers kidnapped by the State!

Freedom for Carlos, Amelie and Fallon!

Freedom for Mario, Salvador and Fernando!

    Freedom for all!

    Down with the prison walls!
