Hello. I am a 17 year old high school senior living in an middle-upper class family in a middle-upper class community. I hate it here, but that could just be typical teenage anger.

But no, I am here because I have lived my whole life without people who see the world, who see the government, who see the church, the way I do.

Actually, I'm writing this post after an argument with my mother in which she told me that my politics were evidence of my immaturity.

I don't see it that way. I think the world around me, my parents included, has this problem where they offer the government "blind faith," the same way the religious man sees his special books.

So I am here because I will not tolerate being called "immature" for not following blindly.

I could tell you how much I hate the church, and fascists, and all the typical shit, but I'm going to assume that's kind of a given on this site. Instead, I'm going to tell you that I spent the earlier part of my life thinking it was "gross" and "wrong" to be gay because my classmates told me. I'll tell you how I thought war and killing was "cool" because of the video games I played. I'll tell you that I once laughed at vegetarians because I thought such a diet was pointless. And I'll also tell you I once saw anarchists as crazy people who bomb innocent people to cause chaos. Because that is how this culture built me to be. So I denounce who I was, and I'm hoping to move on to better things.

My passion of now is animals, and more specifically, bats. I'm hoping to do some form of animal science in college then move to help save bat species from extinction with a non-profit group. (Bats are dieing because pesticides are killing their food, development is destroying their habitats, and certain fungi are wiping out colonies.)

Right now, I've been listening to Conflict, Anti-Product, and Nausea, so I'd be happy to talk music.

That's probably enough for a post about me, so I'll see you guys around.

Do not worry about your parents, eventually they will get use to it or you will end up like me moving out from home away from insanity.
    Great introduction and welcome.
Hope you will find some answers here.

hey, great post. I don't know where you live, but it can be pretty motivating to meet like-minded people in your life, instead of the people calling you "immature" and such. Welcome aboard.

Immature? Sounds to me like you've got a hell of a lot more sense than everyone else in that shithole you're stuck in. Glad to know you have the confidence and self-love to acknowledge who you are. And you've also given me a bit of insight into why so many anarchist/punk types come from relatively privileged backgrounds. :)
