How are you all doing? I go by the nickname Lucky, I started listening to commercial punk bands like Bad Religion, Pennywise, Guttermouth, NOFX, etc. back in the early 90's. I was 14yrs old and a big time skate kid. I started with hard rock and metal bands and then met a local kid who was a little older, he was cool as hell and introd me to punk. I eventualy got into going to local shows and supporting local bands, then I started with more OG punk bands like GBH, Black Flag, Exploited, Circle Jerks, etc. I had a giant multi colored mohawk and loved all my punk rock and rowdy friends. I also got heavily involved in a anti-racism club at my high school, I know school isn't punk HAHAHAHAA! But fuck it, at least I stood for something and was active. Most of us knew about Anarchy, but not the Anarcho Punk movement/community, and most of us didn't listen to alot of these great bands I have been learning about and discovering pretty recently.

The years went by and I got sucked into being an adult, democratic party, working and living for the mighty dollar, I even tried church but never felt like I fit in, and couldn't get behind their beliefs, and everyone knows chasing the almighty dollar will never leave you happy. Through all of these experiences, I still prefered the punk rock music I grew up on, the D.I.Y lifestyle, and the creative art that is such a huge part of punk rock. I've always been into making and building whatever I happen to be into. I've come full circle within the last couple of years, and now that Im fathering 3 boys, have been thinking alot about the ideals and ethics I want to teach my sons. These thoughts have lead me here. I've decided it is important to teach my children the DIY spirit, that the political machine governing the USA and terrorizing the world is not right and they don't have to buy into the bullshit. I want my sons to think for themselves, to get involved in projects for the people and not for the money. I want them to be tollerant/accepting of all peoples, and deny the facist, the totaletaring, the monarchist, the religious, and not trust the propaghanda of these etinties. I want them to question authority and reject the nonsense spoon fed to them daily. Most of all I want them to be informed.
Im taking my oldest son (15rys) to his first show next month. The Casualties (street punk) and the Sub Hum Ans after that. Ive been introducing him to the lifestyle with tools like youtube videos of bands, and interviews with other punks. I can see the wheels spining behind his eyes. He loves it like I do. Ive been talking to him about the significance of bands like CRASS, RP, Conflict, etc.....he is starting to open his eyes and is really taking an interest in learning about what is going on around him, and how capitalists, profitiers, facist, and so many govts. are destroying so many lives.

I hope I can do my sons justice and they learn the DIY lifestyle.

hi lucky. you sound a cool dad, if your sons dont understand or ignore your wise words now they will probably relise what your talking about as they grow older, this is from my own experience with my perants, when i was younger i didnt care what my perants thought cos they were the old generation and my generation had its own thing going but when i turned 20 i realised that this capatalist society is fucked up and following fashions that come and go with the wind is pointless and not rewarding one bit. i feel sorry that you had to go to church to seek an answer you must of been lost, but im glad you came to the conclusion that it wernt for you or otherwise i might not have wrote this reply and met a new comrade. :lmao: \m/

    What is the question?
So far my words of wisdom have seem to taken hold of my childrens thought process. I can see in my teenage son, he is starting to think about the affects of his words and actions on the world and people. A good thing for sure. My youngest arn't old enough to really understand anarchy and anti-racist/facism, but someday they will. I've been discussing my philosophy's with quite a few people lately, and I can tell I'm turning on the light in their brains. I know most people won't feel as strong as I do about politics, state controlled capatalism, religion, and anarchy. But, if I can at-least get their wheels spinning I feel like I've accomplished a small victory for Anarchism and possibly mankind. I truly believe the more people we turn on to sites such as this, the greater the possibility of true conciousness of the consequences of peoples actions spreading like wildfre. The more people we can get to open their eyes to the bullshit being spoon fed to us daily.

It seems whever I talk to people about politics, religion, capatalism only benefiting the rich and destroying the working class, these people always agree and say, "something needs to change." Well I reply with , "reveloution needs to happen, we need to tear it all down and start governing ourselves." Except for my closest friends, these people say hopefully not in their life time, and I believe thats because they are scared of the US govt. sicking the military on them (and they would). It's a sign the gov't scare tactics, intimidation, harrasment, and all out terrosim is working in their favor. Another reason we need reveloution.

It's a quote from the movie Dirty Harry where he tracks down a serial killer and this guy taunts him, to which DH says his famous line:
It's kinda sad to know that kids will be confronted with racism one day. Where I live, in South Africa, I grew up during apartheid and I went to a white school where racist talk was the order of the day, but when I see the kids today, black and white, it's like they don't even know the concept of racism and that makes me hopeful.

Yeah, I think unfortunately things are gonna have to get a LOT worse before people start revolting en masse.
