URBAN ROOTS is a documentary that tells the story of the spontaneous emergence of urban farming in the city of Detroit. Detroit, once an industrial powerhouse of a lost American era, is a city devastated by the loss of half its population due to the collapse of manufacturing. By the looks of it, the city has died. But now, against all odds, in the empty lots, in the old factory yards, and in-between the sad, sagging blocks of company housing, seeds of change are taking root. With the most vacant lots in the country, citizens are reclaiming their spirits by growing food. A small group of dedicated citizens have started an urban environmental movement with the potential to transform not just a city after its collapse, but also a country after the end of its industrial age. Urban Roots shows dedicated Detroiters working tirelessly to fulfill their vision for locally-grown, sustainably farmed food in a city where people...

Thanks for posting this kad budu gorjeli gradovi. It looks beautiful and it puts a smile on my face, i'm suking it down now, i found it on mofo pirate bay. :D

@HARRISON this was what i was thinking was going down in detroit when i asked you about detroit :D

There is one thing that makes me go ???????? someone one in the trailer says "The City reserves the right to take the land back" what does that mean? and when? after they pump life into the economy?? Do they then take the land back and sell it off?? to new developers that have plans for the city???

But anyway it puts a smile on my face today knowing this is happening in the USA ;)

i saw an awesome documentary on Detroit on BBC last night. living in the UK this was the first time i had heard of the situation in the city. i was shocked to see a post industrial city in the US, one would think that they would reuse the factory's but no they just let them rot. any one on the forum whose from Detroit i would love to hear some personal experiences of the city.

it also mentioned that the people living in Detroit are turning old land in to farm land which is amazing  the documentary also showed urban explorers exploring the abandoned and crumbling buildings which looked a lot of fun, in my home town of Swansea there's old copper works which were once the biggest producers of copper in the world but there crumbling and ive had the chance to explore them but they aint no where the size of the buildings in Detroit. they also showed the down side of an abandoned city Drugs, violence and poverty but how bad is the place in reality, it looks a good place for people who want to live relatively free from the law. and i believe Motown is in Detroit :ecouteurs: . i suspect this is going to happen all over the world as we progress in technology and it dont take long for nature to take control and suffocate our old abandoned buildings  :lmao:

and there seems to be no people there its almost completely abandoned
