    Hi!

Been having a lurk around here on and off for the last... 3 years or so! Finally decided to join on in.

I'm a 23 y/o trans woman from a very boring part of the south-west UK. Theres... not much of a music scene here (that I'm interested in) and one of the reasons I'm joining is I might be able to find people for some IRL music fun times. Sucks being the only anarcho-punk you know.

My politics are pretty much just Anarcho-Syndicalism. I grew up in a poor, single parent household. From a very young age I've always had a sense that there was something very wrong with how things work, and I've always had a desire to change it. I went through the standard route of statist socialist politics, becoming a member of the SWP for a short time. Eventually I started to get disillusioned with the idea of the state - I realised that I was just constantly making excuses over and over again and even I didn't believe the things I was saying to other people. I never took anarchism seriously before that point, until I randomly came across a message from anarchists to socialists on the internet. Sadly I can't find it anymore but it made a big impact on my politics and my life. It was like everything snapped into place, it resolved all the issues I had with Marxism and it wasn't full of super-serious stone faced people who had a disturbing tendency to turn out to be bigots in some way or another (See the recent crisis in the SWP over rape and sexual assault allegations). So, yeah, don't give up on trying to engage with statists, especially young ones!

As for music, I play electric and acoustic guitar (badly) and I'm learning to sing (which is difficult for me and will never sound quite right but, fuck it). I listen to and play mostly anarcho and folk. I don't think there's a lot of anarcho-folk-punk in the UK at all, all the bands I've come across are american. Maybe I can help fix that some day... ;). I love the two genres because they cut the bullshit and pretense and whining and just get down to it. Sometimes they even sound good while doing it! :p

Also I fucking love Mischief Brew. Best music that no-one's heard.

So yeah, that's me. See you around!

    Thanks!

Birmingham is about two and a half hours away by train, it's a ways to go but it's doable! Any particular reason why Birmingham of all places? Bit random

Don't rightly know they just told me this past Sunday....but I do know they are really good people and dedicated anarchists so I suppose they have their reasons...
