I was at a show recently... this girl had a mohawk and she couldnt be more than 15 years old. It was a nice day outside. She left, washed her mohawk out and came back. I asked why she did that and she said that it was "too hot" to have up, with a snobby undertone. My girlfriends son, who had a mohawk at the time, walked over to her and said "you have a nice mohawk" and alls she said to him was, in the most sarcastic tone "oh yea yours is coming along". I promptly then ripped her a new asshole, verbally, and told her that she was a poseur, and that i only use that word when i truly mean it and told her to fuck off and to cut her hair because there is no room for douchebags like her in ANY scene.

But.. thats buffalo for you. That contravene song is the perfect song to describe people from around here, honestly, me not being one of em of course :D

I've seen that at well. When I was at a show a while back I saw this kid with Doc Martens, bondage pants, the whole nine yards. Anyways, I said hello to him, and all he did was smirk and walk away.

It pisses me off when people do that. If you claim to be within the same counter culture, try to acknowledge your fellow punker!

Elitism = worse than being a poser

Im not saying any of you are elitist
But it really is much worse.
I stated this on page one of this topic.
I would call Vegetarian Barbarians move Constructive Criticism

Well i do like how a lot of this community's members look out for each other. That is definatly a positive in this scene... something I am actually a little surprised to see, but glad nonetheless.

most "posers" tend to be elitist because they think that being punk is cool and hip, therefor they are cooler than everyone..

but people worrying way too much about being posers and whether something is punk or not, I've read discussions like these before and they all sound the same. If someone's being a douche, you should tell em. If someone is being a poser, let them learn, they''ll soon realize why everyone is ignoring them or they'll drop the punk look and move on to their next scene.
But I'm from maine, so all the "poser punks" don't even know about the shows that are going on or travel the 2 hours it takes to get to them, so I don't interact with them a lot.

elitism is being elite... basically thinking u are higher and mightier then others, and they should have no part of what you are into. That is my interpretation/usage.

yes a non topic really as it were but i have been called all sorts of names by the same people all my life but now i know that they are wrong, ie: an asshole is an asshole but wat happens wen assholes take over the 'scene', no really, they just call you paranoid, elitist all that shit wen u have an opinion and i don't mean speels about little green men, its their way of trying to keep u stume, wheres the 'honesty' in that, learning is about communication, i'd much rather have someone say a bands shit than go along with the mob, i mean people who go out of their way to be meanspirited(go join the metal scene) and u usually know, wen the music starts to get worsses or watered down shite though there are phases or allll the same, full of assholes and cliquey as folk, not punk no matter how they twist it which why i'm still punk, I Know

I don't think i'm better it just stinks and not in a good crusty punk way, NO COMPLY, fuck ya just come off sounding elitist eh haha

What really shits me up the wall was the bullshit from American Skins about new people on the scene...I am from Australia and none of us here or the Skins and Rudeboys I know from the UK ever use the term "freshcut" to describe a new Skin.
