This thread is about education: it's mostly because ive had this on my mind for a long time, i still go in public school and in about 3 years i'm done with it and i think i'll head to high school next, i just don't know what i want to be do when i'm done with school and stuff mostly because i don't wanna end up with a boring job or end up as a corrupt bank or bussiniess man (office jobs in general), however i do enjoy reading history and i think myself that i am doing quite well at history, i had this dream of becoming a historian with the school of thought of anarchism to challenge the other historians who either support Authothrian Communism or Capitalism or Fascism and other silly ideologies and i still really do, it just scares me that i don't know if i can live up to my anarchist privaliges if i get an academic education could anybody come with a lifelong advice or something? if you could it would really help me out thanks :D

Don't think that you can indoctrinate students with any ideology apart from the mainstream ones, so you'll end up telling the oversimplified version of history from some centrist point of view. And you'll have to tell it over and over again for new generations of students...

sounds like a really sad job though :/ , i don't really want to educate as a history teacher, i thought of writing books, having lectures and generally debating and stuff

Well it's a minority of historians that does it, don't get me wrong - if you love it, then do it. I also like history, but when I was 16 and I've had to choose a specialisation for next step of education(I don't know if it's the same in Denmark) there were 2 options for me - history&literature/language or math&physics, from all of these things I hated literature(not the books, but the lessons, they're so...biased) and liked other things, so I've picked the second one, now I'm going to get some engineering degree then... Make tons of cash and fuck bitches...wait, STOP! :@ find a job("hurr hurr you're not anarchist if you're working") with a good salary("herp derp greedy traitorous conformist").

Stegs... I have a lifelong friend and musician that was actually my younger sisters boyfriend for many years, he played drums in some semi-famous bands but was almost always the most radical member of any of those bands...in the end he ended up becoming a professor of Chicano Studies at U.C. Berkley and he is even more radical now in his politics and beliefs than he was as a younger man, I have a very strong admiration for what he has done and is doing and to this day is closely guarded and watched by the FBI - NSA - CIA et all the cryptofascist orgs. but that doesn't stop him from intellectually infecting his students with the thought of freedom....it can be done.

Maybe this is little off topic, but try reading Emma Goldman "Francisco Ferrer and modern school" and "The Origins and Ideals of the Modern School" great reading about teaching without any influence from outer world.
I've read Emma's chapter(book Anarchy and other esseys) about Ferrers way of teaching and showed me that can be alternative ways of teaching than is generally accepted today.

This is an important topic i think...

There are other models to the capitalist education complex inside a nation state, who's goal is to turn people into human/robot commodities to sell themselves to owners of companies.

Here are some other examples of other types of schools...

This is an anarchist radio show called Horizontal Power Hour...

    Link: http://horizontalpowerhour.wordpress.co ... ian-greer/

Here is an article on students in Chile taking over their schools and running it themselves...

    The article: http://www.counterpunch.org/2012/01/27/ ... -possible/

the sad thing is that there isn't that many dmeocratic schools in DK, and after our new school reform for public schools we'll lose our freedom and have more school lessons and less free time... :/

Well what then?? Do you begin thinking of other possibilities outside of the model they offer and create something new??

the thing is the government of DK has the "brilliant" idea of doing liberal politics and that happens that they want the welfare taxes lowered the only problem with that it is that the education is being attacked from all sides with reforms since then.

It leaves me wondering...if I had a child someday and today´s indoctrined school education, i ask myself whether to send him to school or not?
It would be fucked up to send our children into one way street, they teach you something but that doesn´t make you go far.One guy said:White people send their children to school to be dumb.
We have created education and we need education, but teaching you about bloody wars, fascism, who won and who did not, whose got a bigger prick to fuck anything that moves, that is not my tipe of education. In education we must strive for the best.

I do not want for a child to be anarchist, fascist, communist or whatever.I would rather raise him to be a free person, open minded and strong in spirit

I dont think we really would have to teach anarchism at school to change society for the better , while the content of what is actually taught to kids is indeed important i think that the way it is taught is more crucial. I believe that kids develops their morals with the information they receive as they grow up and right now school system is obviously hierarchical and do no promote respectful mutual relationship , no self initiative and is pretty much a reflection of our individualist/capitalism system. I'm not too sure of school dropout rate in other countries but here at some point we had something like 50% , I'm pretty sure all these people had interest in something and if we would focus on these thing they could continues to learn valuable thing that would have enriched the community ( If only we actually had one ! ). Im not too knowledgeable on the subject but i think that the way school work is highly debated even by some mainstream child educator or whatever the fuck you name those people. Finish school are a lot different from what the model is pretty much everywhere around the world , instead of competition its based on cooperation and humanism is taught at a young age and give the same result , if not better than the competition model. Some of these school been popping around i heard we even have one in Canada now. I dont think we should force feed child of anarchist theorist books , while it sure can be enlightening , you dont really need to read anything to have the spiritual part of the value we all share here .

we need to do it as i think, it's mostly because we have to learn about there is a alternative to auththorthian Communism and Capitalism something new and move away from the whole chaos thing, i think the public needs to know that anarchism is an actual ideology with alot of thought put into it just like any other ideology  .

Stegs if you "force" anarchism in education that is fascist way of doing things regardless of your good intentions.

This isn't about force i say that it's a need to learn about all of the ideologies regardless since everything should be mentioned beside the centrist bullshit.
