I figure this is a good place to start. My name's Taffy Twp. Taffy is a derogatory name for a Welshman that was once synonymous with the word 'thief' in England and is derived from the River Taff, which runs through Cardiff which is the closest city to my birthplace. Twp (pronounced 'toop' or 'tup') means daft, stupid, slow etc. and is common language amongst non-Welsh speakers in South Wales - such as myself.

I've been 'punk' for over 10 years though an Anarchist for maybe half that time - though once I actually found out what that meant I figured I'd always been one! Currently my main struggles are mental-health issues, anti-patriarchy, anti-civilisation and anti-fascism. I am not a pacifist. I live as part of a successful anarchic community on a new-traveller site and am involved in the local anarchist social centres, one of which I helped build and set-up (a thoroughly exhausting yet incredibly worthwhile experience!).

My favourite era of punk is one that is relatively new to me - the dub/ska/punk of the early 90s British free-festival scene - though many newer bands are also well played. Some examples are:
AOS3, P.A.I.N, Inner Terrestrials, AK47s, Tofu Love Frogs, kilnAboy, Dirty Revolution, The Usual Suspects, The Sporadics, The Autonomads, Spanner and Radio Rhydd.
Generally anywhere punk crosses dub/ska or folk is a winner, though my music tastes are extremely broad and open minded.

I play as a solo artist in the riot-folk vein with some spoken word - punk as folk innit! I'm currently recording an album (something none of my former bands managed) with no money. This I want to press to CD and Cassette Tape (vinyl's too expensive!) to sell at a reasonable price and they will be anti-copywrited. I should be able to cobble together my own website of some sort at some point to promote myself as I don't want to use facebook, myspace, youtube etc. unless I really have to - which I don't!

I live happily without a TV, smartphone or internet connection. I have recently read several good books which I'd like to recommend: Hardcore Zen by Brad Warner, Cunt by Inga Muscio and The Dispossessed by Ursula Le Guin. Take five to look them up! As for film media, the most interesting documentaries I've seen are End:Civ - Resist Or Die and Coconut Revolution - though I'm sure there's more I can't think of at the moment!

As a squatter, I'm anti-rent and feel like I should be anti-work though I do work around half the year - generally on my own terms, or at least with the acceptance of someone elses! Strangely my mental health improves when I work, though I don't have anything resembling a 'normal' job so I guess I strike a reasonable balance.

So I'm gonna stop there - if I'd had a few J's I'd have rambled on for hours but thankfully for you I'm sober (I'm pretty pro-drugs in respect to the freedom of consciousness tho I don't think everyone should take everything - we're all different!).

Say hi if ya like, please don't be offended if it takes months to reply, I'm not online for long very often.

    TT

(PS 'shwmae' simply means 'hi' - but can also mean 'bye' so shwmae!)

hay man glad to know there's more welsh anarchists out there. im living in swansea and im finishing college in june and cant fuckin wait. when i do evantually finish im finking about traveling the country by foot and im really interested in that anarchist community you mentioned, any chance you could give directions to it, also are new members welcome and how many residents live there. im planning on WWOOFing (world wide opportunity on organic farms). its a volunteer organisation, you work on small organic farms and get paid by food and accommodation and the work can very. im also planning on seeking out anarchist/alternative living communities where i can stay.

first i heard of it and sounds cool. a lot of good bands if im not occupied in September i will definitely check it out. are you going and have you been to the venue before it looks small, but that could add to the atmosphere of the event. i would imagine an event like that to be outdoors.
