I was thinking about becoming a band promoter but I don't really know what do to when it comes to that. I can put their music on the web and stuff to get more listeners but other then that I am kinda lost. Can anyone give me advice on how to do it? Thanks

I guess it depends what your plan is, such as whether you plan to put on shows, or simply promote music that you really enjoy.

If it's just the desire to promote music that you enjoy, there are loads of things you can do:

    - You can upload a bunch of albums onto this site, or other similar sites, or even just your own personal Facebook page (if you're on Facebook)
    - You can start a zine, or contribute to one. Review bands, interview bands, and distribute your work in a zine. Similarly, you can also start a blog solely for the purpose of promoting bands that you like
    - You can start a record label and/or distro, although I'd imagine that takes up a lot more time and money.
    - Maybe even make your own mix tapes or CD's, and give them away, or trade them with other people. Maybe host a small gathering where everyone makes a mixtape/CD.

But anyways, that's just some stuff I can think up off the top of my head. I'm sure there's way more things you can do also.

If you're looking to promote shows, that's something I don't have too much experience with, so I can't contribute too much advice for that.

Thanks. I was wanting to put the names of some local bands out there. There are so many bands here that don't get the props they deserve.I don't have money to start my own label/distro. Putting some music on the web will be a start and I will take it from there.
